Don’t forget; the noble hood you can get from the corpse at the bonfire is a deep blue. Some of the dancing ladies have faded blue hoods. They either got the hoods from nobles, or were once themselves traveling nobles, and they’ve been dancing for a long time..

There’s almost no doubt that Martin snuck this in, and it’s a nod to the dancing plague. It’s women endlessly dancing, and engaged in mass hysteria to the point of immolation and cannibalism; and their jubilation continues even as the gods die, even as a monstrosity stalks the top of the hill.

I wont tolerate this Marika disrespect, after all she's the tarnished's mother. (The walking mausoleums house marika's unwanted illegitimate offspring while they await revival and the implantation of new souls. You can hear a walking mausoleum in the opening part of the game when your character is awoken)

Looking back at this, it seems like a direct reference to the DLC Shaman Village. The flowers remind me of Marika's hometown.

I just got a godskin peeler from him last week

Running up on this village was the most disturbing thing ever in a video game for me... It wasn't the dancing so much as their songs... There was something so creepy about it... In a game with plenty of creepy things, I'm not sure why this got to me the most but it did...

BONUS COMMENT LORE: There is a Battle Mage on a nearby precipice, and he gazes at the women as they dance in the village. In a nearby village, celebrants have been murdered, and other mages stand over them. Is there a rivalry going on here? @Quelaag will make a video soon going into more detail :)
