Another great video. I'm working out of my garage so I have limited space and when I get other tools I need I will definitely be building one of these

Is there anywhere or any pointers on calculating the load a flip cart can handle? For example: if you wanted to use a drum sander and a planer? I guess the weight and some physics law have to come in play. Thanks for your time

I cringe at all those forstner bit blowouts. Drill in reverse from the other side once the pilot holes are established.

I just finished building this. Fairly new to woodworking and the plans were super easy to follow... great job. The accompanying video also was helpful and entertaining at the same time. I just hope I used enough glue.

I’ve seen folks do this with black pipe but never PVC but it looks extremely strong. Nice work as usual. Thanks for sharing! 👍

Why PVC pipe? You could use a steel 1/2" pipe instead. Why no horisontal skew protection on the bottom of the cabinet? It won't be that robust this way. I liked the idea of "drowning" castors but it is unnecessarily complicated construction. Overall, 3 of 5 stars. 🙂

Love this cart! It's REALLY nice to find some shop items that are shorter than normal lol. My dad is a master craftsman, so I've been in woodworking for years. But I 4'11", so every single shop item I have has to be customized in one way or another lmao.

But the bottom drawer area makes the assembly stronger and sides more rigid.

I appreciate that you are using glue and screws. I also agree to predrill the screws. It seems like the predrill bit is too large since the screws go into the wood very easy.
Since the top is glued and screwed on both sides, how do you access the power strip?

just came across this video as I have been searching for a design for a flip top table for a couple of tools that are currently not readily available. I like the lower slung table top but one thing that is bothering me after watching this video, is what kind of lateral bracing do you have? It seems that it should start to wobble side to side after a while as there doesn't look like any bracing higher than at the very bottom. Thanks for the great ideas and how you assemble the table with great best practices.

James, I always enjoy your videos. They are amongst the most informative and well done as far as explanations go. What I particularly like is that you bridge the gap between beginner and intermediate/advanced woodworker. I put myself in the latter class but I always pick up some good tips as well as just really good project ideas from you. Thank you for the contact.

Nice build. Wanted to build one myself for some time.
I have a question but it doesn’t have anything to do with the cart but with your ridgid sander. I have taken mine in for service but they say nothing is wrong. My sanding cylinders keep sliding up from the mounting cylinder. It seems like washers are to small or I’m using wrong sandpaper cylinders. Any help would be appreciated since I can’t find answers even from ridgid
Thanks david

I like the design and planning on buying the plans. I will say, I would not glue and nail the top down because you have a power strip inside and those go bad over time. Screws are a better idea so in the case the power strip goes bad you can get to it and replace it. Other than that it looks like a great table. Thanks. Ohhhh, I hadn’t get to the end of the video when I committed. Lol. You are putting an access hole. I do have one question before I buy the plans. What is the clearance on the bottom? I would like to put my drill press under there but not sure if it will fit. Thanks.

I am NOT happy! First I have to take responsibility - measure twice...! I downloaded your plans for the "Extreme Flip Top Tool Cart" and built it to mount a Dewalt Router table 1181. I saw an image of your cart on the plans with a Ridgid sander on top and a Dewalt Planer on the underside and proceeded to build it without checking the dimensions of a Router Table. The base of the Dewalt planer is too wide to mount on the table. A warning to others who may be thinking of building to mount a Dewalt planer. I guess I will have to purchase something to mount on my new flip.

Awesome video and awesome design! I've been researching various designs for flip top mobile bases for some time, and I like this design the best! Tremendous! The only improvements I can think of would be to mount those triangle shaped braces inside the shelves, with the shelves themselves being wider and serving as bracing, and all shelves would have more storage room except the bottom one where the triangle braces are, and to put a fillet to round off the sharp corners at the top of each set of shelves (on those outside corners). I will be building this — I will buy your plans and tweak them for my own. Thank you!

Katz-Moses said that I Gauge are not accurate. I was able to find a PEC affordably. However, I was very surprised to find you need to spend $200 to $300 for a combination square set to be accurate. This was upsetting.

If you blow the fuse or little breaker in your outlet strip, you’ll have to destroy your cart to replace it. Maybe shouldn’t add glue to the second plywood piece. Just my thoughts…

Mostly nice work, but I have to call out drilling the peg holes through the side panels. I would have expected a "professional" woodworker to stop short of drilling all the way through and finish from the outside to prevent the massive blowout that ruins the appearance. Kind of amazing you did that.
