By making app widgets non-interacting and the size of a minimum of 4 apps icons on-screen apple have taken a back step instead of forward. Widget experience is subpar and I doubt apart from few widgets hardly anybody will use after the honeymoon period is over.

IOS 14 widgets are pointless. Why can't I do an action from the widget? Why does clicking on the widget take me into the app. At that point it is no better than an app icon

Widget are useless. Apple introduced widgets with Tiger and they were useless then and are useless now.
