Practicing transit planner, we agree with you 👍
ОтветитьI adore the passionate detail you go into. As a Bay Area resident, I wish you the best in your crusade.
ОтветитьBeing a girl dad is the best! Totally worth the lack of sleep😊
ОтветитьThe “subway to the sea” is never happening. The people down there don’t want it and neither does Santa Monica. We are going to have to be content with the Expo line. It is perfectly sufficient. It makes more sense to curve the purple line down Bundy anyway and have a fast, underground metro that directly links downtown via the westside and Century City to the airport transit connector.
Ответитьgive up . metro is dead
ОтветитьWith those connections the LAX station has the potential to become a Union Station for the southwest region.
ОтветитьI honestly wish the Blue States join Canada and move on from this Trumpa-Lumpa nightmare... Then maybe we could also get HIGH SPEED rail in Cascadia, Alberta and Central Canada as a start though the last one might come true as a Hail Mary play to win back Liberal voters who have been dangled this carrot as long as I've been alive... Ditto for my home on native land, Alberta which has planned for a freakin' TGV since the 1980's and here we are, just 10 years away... Like nuclear fusion or hydrogen cars, eh? ;-)
ОтветитьWe need socal to have transit as good as NYC
ОтветитьI'm super excited about many of these projects, especially the Brightline West train. I still hold onto the sliver of hope that there will eventually be a Victor Valley Metrolink line
ОтветитьI actually have my own plans, but can’t figure out where to post, but you’re ideas literally sparked more inspiration. This would potentially “Tokyo-ify” Southern California❤❤
ОтветитьThank you nandert!
ОтветитьMeasure N(andert) 2025!
ОтветитьI'm waiting for that train to Vegas! Let the dice roll, baby!
ОтветитьPomona to Ladera ranch BRT LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO!!!
ОтветитьProject 2025 basically guts federal transit subsidies. Hopefully they transfer the money to the states. Southern states will pump it into roads and hopefully CA will give it to something other than Caltrans.
ОтветитьLucid Stew did a good LA to Phoenix HSR video.
ОтветитьWhat's going on with the south east corridor going through paramount and rosecrans how many people are gonna loose their house
ОтветитьI’m dizzy !
ОтветитьNone of your proposals have a chance so long as you continue
1. Voting for Democrat warmongering friends of Dick and Liz Cheney who will take the trillions needed for transit to keep making their war profits and
2. Keep insulting the majority of voters. You really have to improve your persuasion skills, and stop with the nonsense that Trump voters are innately hostile to transit. Trump voters are working class, not the suburban NIMBY's that you think are hostile to transit and urbanism generally.
So keep the proposals coming Nandert, I love them despite your insults. But I am already persuaded, and am more tolerant. We need more people to come on board, and you are hindering that effort with your gratuitous polital pot shots.
You're right -- federal aid for urban transit planning is screwed for the next four years. But Tesla and Space X? You can bet they'll get full funding under Budget Czar Elon. Does anyone else see the conflict of interest?
ОтветитьAmazing! Reminds me of the saying "The sign of a great civilization is one in which leaders plant seeds for trees under whose branches they will never sit."
ОтветитьFantasy land thinking. The State is broke.
ОтветитьThe map isn't loading for me, is there another place I can view it? Thanks
ОтветитьCan OCTA be absorbed by LA Metro please
ОтветитьLA can almost rival New York in its local and regional transit networks. I like the idea of some of the LA MetroRail extending to its adjacent counties in San Bernardino and Orange counties. Where transit is much needed and connecting with the local transit systems, there that will really make a true regional rail. I also have to say that the BRT system is also very solid, providing those missing gaps in the entire LA region. I hope that a quarter of these plans will realistically happen. And commuter rall, intercity rail and California high speed rail connecting outside the LA area is excellent.
ОтветитьThe economy is going to explode under Trump so there will be even more money for transit. Without the Democrats causing insane inflation, things are going to get a lot better!
ОтветитьHi Nick. Thanks you for the monumental effort you putto yor informative videos that you produce on Sothern California transit. In general I agree with most of your assessments. However I have one big disagreement. You often state that the Sepulveda Line is the most important project, maybe in the whole country. I disagree. I believe that a K Line northern extension straight up La Brea would do more for LA transit than any other project. With easy transfers to the D Line and B Line as well as the G Line, it would make the entire network more efficient and navigable. It would directly connect Hollywood to Mid-Wilshire and LAX. It would make the D Line accessible to Hollywood and LAX. It would offer a cheaper build out for connecting the SF Valley to the heart of LA and LAX. A fast and efficient K Line northern extension would transform the utility of the entire network and be a lot less expensive to build than the Sepulveda Line.
Ответить> Yes this a long video, Yes I have a job, Yes I sometimes sleep
Yeah I'm gonna call BS. /jk Love this videos! You take fantasy maps to a whole another level. if you sleep now wait till we get you elected Supreme King of Southern California Transportation.
If I ever find a magical genie and I get 3 wishes, the first wish will be this map a reality including all of California transit plans or ideas you got even if you're not that knowledgeable. The second is to eminent domain everything to fit every station and line accordingly to make it the most polished urban system ever. And third, bring back my favorite hot dog restaurant in North Hollywood.
ОтветитьHave you considered battery electric multi-units instead of full electrification. Eliminating all the overhead lines would limit the amount of blight caused by electrifying rail throughout the region. If we want a system that looks modern as well as serves the region, this is the better route.
ОтветитьIts Only going to be used by 97% illegals. Mexico 'O the Northa
Ответитьi never skip the ads, just for you nandert!
ОтветитьAs a San Diegan and train-lover, I remain deeply skeptical of the Purple Line as a rail route. Seems to make much more sense as a freeway-running BRT modeled on Stride in the Puget Sound.
That said, I'd love to explore a rearrangement of the South Bay rail routes that involved handing over the current Blue Line ROW to expanded and electrified Coaster and Surfliner service, then creating an entirely new elevated and automated rail line that ran through the core of Chula Vista and National City up to Santa Fe Depot. The latter could be operated with world-class frequency (like every 90 seconds) and extended into Tijuana as has been envisioned with the current Blue Line trolley.
We have to get you elected to help get some of this done on a better timeline!
ОтветитьAs always, your maps are very impressive, well done sir, thank you for putting this together.
ОтветитьWill you ever possibly make a region proposal for the bay area?
ОтветитьHey uhh... can you talk about the Downtown LA Streetcar that I just found out about, and found out that Measure M has partially funded it?
ОтветитьYou really need to be in charge of all this :) please God
ОтветитьI ride to northridge everyday to school
ОтветитьPlease please look at Northern California. We need a vision like this that includes SF, OAK, SJ, and Sac! Please reach out if you're actually interested and want to connect with some good folks up here who are thinking about pieces of this but not necessarily how it all comes together.
ОтветитьI am the sort of person who finds this sort of thing fun! I look forward to seeing more of your videos!!!
ОтветитьSadly there is not enough time in the whole existing universe future and past combined to complete even half of this. Also no community / government will unfortunately.
ОтветитьYour effort at rail system planning is commendable, however, complete transit systems do not function without complementary bus routes that afford convenient transfers rail-to-bus and between bus lines.
Transit systems worldwide are far further behind in buses (routes and schedules) and bus type. Standard 40' and articulated 60' buses do NOT convert to EV very well (at twice the price) nor are they suitable for stop-n-go circuitous routes. EV buses must be built from the ground up (not mere conversions of decades obsolete buses) and in shorter wheelbases to replace Yellow School Bus and Paratransit lift-van fleets that likewise do not convert to EV very well at all.
After decades of planning transit, I've come to regard light rail as "anti-commute" systems. All commute systems create more demand for commuting than they can handle, with the excess demand unavoidably met only by automobile. This perspective incorporates land-use aspects considered Transit Oriented Development (TOD) which directs growth toward an economically diverse mix of uses whereby more needs can be met closer to home.
In other words, bus routes that conveniently connect to regional light rail stations can direct more TOD projects needed to reduce long-distance commuting and generate more light rail and connecting bus route patronage.
We need this, all of it.
ОтветитьAs a Carson resident, this is the best possible scenario for me (a rail fan) lmao and it wouldn't be ready until i'm like 50 fuck :(
ОтветитьJust fix the roads....the trains are a waste because they go nowhere
Ответить
