What a polished turd.

Just watched it. I was blown away. I can see why it's not for everyone, it definitely feels like an A24, but a really good one. Every shot is like a painting. The visual storytelling as they slowly reveal details that let you in to the character's life and just really humanise her in a world that seems to be built to do the opposite.. yeah. I am appalled this got a 5 on IMDB when way, way shittier movies regularly get 7's and 8's.. but that's the state of the world I guess. People want flashy empty candy bullshit, not thoughtful thought provoking artistic masterpieces because that would require the audience to actually maybe be bored for 30 seconds while they sit and ponder.

This looks like the sort of trash I would never watch but just in case I checked a number of audience reviews. Unanimous. Trash.

Movie was anticlimactic and left me like a deer caught in the headlights! Good acting but there was no real resolve for Monica. Rent the film v. spending your $$ at the movie theater.

Really, stop pushing your agenda, and you be getting so much crap. Do whatever you want as an adult, in private. The rest of us don't need or want to see it. The social purge is coming.

This movie isn’t bad by any means. But I have three main complaints about it:

1.) The trans angle isn’t evident at all. If you go in not knowing Monica is trans, you will be confused, because at no point is the audience given the information to make that determination. Monica is all woman!

2.) Same as above: too much is left unknowable here. I’m all for leaving things up for interpretation in films. But some do it better than others. The deeper you get into this story, and the more you get to know (and love) the characters, the more you realize you’re staying put for answers. Sadly, you get very few.

3.) Other than music overheard in a bar or whatever, there's not a lick of original music in it. Movies without any music are really lifeless, in my opinion. And such is the case here.

Saw this movie at Regal Essex in NYC! Absolutely loved it ❤

The comments seem pretty generic to be honest. A film about a trans woman's family relationships just doesn't appeal to me, sorry, I just can't relate to it in any way. I also don't think it can be a box office hit because most people think that way. I have no problem being proven wrong.
