Wait... how is google a third party service if it owns firebase?

I got the phone auth to work, it is great, but I realize there is a problem with phone auth, what if user changed his phone number ? once user login, and before user change his/her phone number with their carrier , how can we let them change their phone number ?

Anybody can help? Can we use firebase authenticate for custom ID for sign in methods? I'm looking for a sign-in method which the user has to insert their own unique ID and password. The unique ID is already in the database. For example user has to enter their student ID and password to log-in to the application.
