Somebody should´ve informed that boss of the M-Division that i don´t expect a M5 to weigh 2,5 tons. This is ridiculous!
But that seems to be the main theme of modern day BMW M. Ultimate driving machine has gone out the window for a long time already...

Maybe I am on the minority, but this is EXACTLY what I wanted. I am ordering one of these to replace my RS6. I am looking for a highway cruise missile that will comfortably take me, my wife, our two kids, and our Newfoundland.

My M5 Competition will stay now. I’ve been waiting with bated breath for the new model. So disappointing. Almost 2.5 tons to get around 50 miles on electric. Apart from politicians, who needs it?

No top gear, boss isnt back. This is a hideous necromancy at best. What a horrible looking car. It looks horrible to drive

Get an M2. It is about the same size as the M3 used to be when it was good, and the weight is low enough to make it a sporty drive. A 2.5 tonne BMW M5 makes no sense at all. A full-sized Range Rover only weighs 2.7 tonnes.

Feels a bit overkill. Its not easy to find the type of client for such a massive machine.

BMWs sells mostly in black now, because that's the only way to hide those goofy styling.

I took my E60 M5 out for a ride today. So glad I chose to hold on to the last naturally aspirated BMW M5 that will ever be made.

Ever considered that maybe u just catchup and love it and it was pretty amazing from the beginning. Everything changes and battery power has even come to the lambo. Maybe living in the past is not a great way to review a new car

A view from the UK. I love it when they allow the little boys to review cars, they are so predictable. Just watch how this young 'un tries to get through the boring bits but really wants to get behind the wheel and spank it around a track asap. I guarantee you the vast, vast majority of owners of this £110k car will be using it for the daily commute and only open it up through tunnels with the window down or late night/early morning on the motorway/ by-pass. There's no way on gods earth that the people that watch this will ever be able to buy one. We 'oldie' call it the "Clarkson Effect".

BMW have lost the plot. I'm a 2 wheeled man and the hatred for this new M5 model is of a similar vitriol to the new GS 1300 and 1300 GSA. BMW obviously know that no matter what crap comes out of the factory they will have diehard fans that will lap it up.

If the world was an honest place: BMW: "So we wanted a new M5 like you guys but EU climate clownery won't let us do a V10 performance saloon so we threw in a V8 and big fat battery pack adding ludicrous weight but hey...here's your new M5", please enjoy..."
