I live in Canada and we are used to BIG snow. But holy cow - THAT is INSANE for Italy. I hope those folks have decent enough heating. I will pray for them.

Here in Austria when i was a child it was normal from oktobre till april possible much snow and we loved it. It all was quiet and work, school was no needed because much snow.. now if it begin to snow the humans dont want snow and are ready to drive the snow away..so its like the holy livin snow feels it and dont come again..
Enjoy it and be like a squirrel or a bear inside the warm..

Que nous disait-on ? A partir de l’an 2000 ,il ne devait plus y avoir de neige ! C’est le réchauffement qui provoque certainement de la neige chaude. My father was born in Abruzzo Italy (this is where this snowfall is). He said they would have to shovel their way out of the house and he said he had to walk to school in meters of snow. So this is not unusual at all. It was the way it was back then.

My region, this is in the Abruzzo-Molise region between Capracotta and Roccaraso. This area is famous for its enormous snowfalls. Capracotta holds the world record for snowfall within 24 hours. The reason for these heavy snowfalls there. The cold air from the east (Balkans) meets the very warm Adriatic Sea, this moisture is pressed against the Apennines and heavy accumulations occur here, while on the other side of the Apennines towards Rome it remains almost dry and also much warmer. I can remember as a child that the snow often reached up to the top of the front door. Here in Germany, where I currently live, snow is becoming increasingly rare, at least in the center and north.
