There is something so special and magical about all African American poets, musicians and authors... they write with deep and true emotions.

Hope everyone who's lowkey being forced to perform slam poetry will do swell. In the end, it's all about what you feel and how you feel it. For some enchanting and top-tier slam poets, I would recommend Sarah Kay and Phil Kaye. They're wonderful!

While performance is very important, it has become far too influential in the poetry world. Unless people intend for poetry to drop the written form, other qualities need to be emphasized over performance. Because when you send your poem off to some journal or poetry publication you cannot follow along aside it, so you can inform the editors how it should be read. If you are talented and lucky the way the poem should be read will be self explanatory within the very arrangement and power of the words. So when this learned writer says to read it out loud, she may mean so that you can see where to add flourishes in your recital of it. But she may also mean so that you can hear the way the sounds of the words bounce off each other, helping to create the poem.

I've always been good at poetry but when it comes to poems for poetry slam to me seems very intricate, its like a whole new level of poems
