I love seeing your process, and what a beautiful selection of fabrics and finishes. Vanessa sounds like she might be Canadian, so it's jarring to hear her use the words "timber" and "splashback" instead of "wood" and "backsplash." Lol!

Wow. My favourite to date. I love french rustic style and the slightly less formal edges like the elegant chandeliers and the wrought iron legs. Stunning design. 😮

Love how considered the scheme is. So many materials involved and endless possibilities yet you manage to bring it all together beautifully.

I love the fabric choices. I was trying to find where the "poufy trim" appears but couldn't.

I love the kitchen chairs. Where can I find such cosy and gorgeous seating? Simply perfection.

Didn’t think I could have any more appreciation for the level of care and sophistication that goes into every one of SPI designs but I was wrong 😄 Wow, just wow! This just goes to show why SPI is at the level that it’s reached. How lucky are these clients?!

Would be fascinated to hear something of the client’s feedback on the 3D renders. I hope they let you do a video of the end result in due course. The beams and the floor are key anchors for the rustic look but I wonder if the materiality in the FF&E goes slightly too far? So, I’m trying to imagine the renders as lived-in space and think it may get too busy with the day to day liveability getting lost in the detail? But what an incredible commission!

As I'm about to embark on renovations for my new home, I enjoyed you taking us through the 'mood board' trays presented to your client in the design process, as well as how the C.I. renderings showed how they would all work together. Being a Swiss resident with a holiday home near St. Moritz, it was interesting to see your interior design ideas for a chalet. I like how the rustic feel is not too overboard and is established through subtle textures rather than strong and obvious choices, especially through the furniture. Well done.

Would you mind sharing the stove used in the kitchen? It has the right amount of warmth and practicallity about it without being too modern. As I am also a Swiss resident and about to start my own renovation project, It would be greatly appreciated if you could share the brand of the stove/cooking range. Thank you.

You are so talented and I love your videos but I must say that one thing I found very impractical in this video was the distance between the bed and the nightstands. How would one reach a glass of water or place a book on top of it before going off to sleep? I personally would not want to get out of bed to reach my nightstand. As much as I love your design projects I think your own home is my favorite. It is so beautiful. I have to tell you something small but meaningful to me, when I first saw a video of your home I thought everything was absolutely perfect but there was one small thing that I thought I would personally change. You have a pair of bombe chests in your living room and I thought to myself that I personally would rather have bronze drawer pulls instead of the brushed nickel ones that you had chosen. Well, in a subsequent video I saw that you had replaced them with bronze drawer pulls and as silly as it sounds I just felt so ridiculously happy because I am just a simple working person and I will never have a home like yours' but I felt a kinship with you at that moment because we shared a common thought. Have a blessed Christmas with your beautiful family!

To my eye, this project seems your most novel. I think it may be due to the rough-hewn elements that were incorporated: the “knobbly” beams as Vanessa describes them, the raw-edged countertops, and the weathered brick floors ~ all of which are a refreshing departure from the smooth lines and highly polished interiors I associate with SPI.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t compliment you on the beautiful dining chairs, which I find unique and fascinating! I love the organically shaped backs, the thickness of the padding, and the unexpected curvature of the legs. Something about those chairs reads as playful - whimsical and lighthearted …which reinforces the purpose of a chalet in St. Moritz: the pursuit of happiness.
I think this interior showcases your firm’s versatility. While still utilizing luxurious materials, you’ve presented something touching upon rustic ~ and the result is as aesthetically pleasing as your reputation is known for.
