This is kind of a stupid question but, you said when you have PTSD your mind goes into hyperdrive when you watch scary/sad things on the news but what if you have PTSD and the news doesn't do that to you? Is that normal?
ОтветитьYoung Turks eww
Ответитьit's so true. i stopped listening to the radio in the morning because they put so muh news and it would make me feel totally unsafe and anxious and just really down all the time. My mum always says you have to know what's going on in the world but she watches every single day. But i feel like if something important happened, i would find out but i don't need to know every five minutes! i didn't know it was a thing though. i thought it was just me being oversensitive!
ОтветитьThis is so true!!! Watching the news makes so depressed, and I feel that I have to change the negative image people have about my religion and culture. I can't sleep well because many people today have sent threats to hurt Muslims just cuz of the news even if it is clear that everything in the news is just for political seeking and has nothing to do with the person beliefs. I feel so scared, but I don't know how to stop watching the news. It is affecting every aspect of my life. Thanks for this video.
ОтветитьHey Kati I asked this on your Saturday video and i was wondering what was the difference between a Suicide gesture and a suicide attempt. I'm only asking this because that phrase "suicide gesture" came up in one of my therapy sessions and she didn't explain the difference. I know what a Suicide attempt is but isn't the same thing? Love you xoxo Merry Christmas Eve!
ОтветитьSometimes I think they should call the news "the bad news". Another thing that brings me down is all the hellfire and damnation that some versions of religion preach.
ОтветитьI love your vids thank u❤️❤️❤️ And u actually look like women on amarican horror story 😱😍
ОтветитьI never watch the news, I only read it because that's a lot easier for me to handle and I'm still informed about all the things going on, so that's my solution. Even so, it makes me feel bad sometimes but that's fine as long as I can pull myself out of it (stop my thoughts from ruminating) which I'm pretty good at by now (I had many years of practise) :-)
Ответить"Collab Camp" sounds awesome. Kati, thank you for all your understanding in 2015. Your collabs with Ashley Mardell, Paul Gilmartin & CourtneyPants were highlights for me as a viewer this year. Wishing you the best. When I ditched broadcast TV years ago it was a pressure release valve like no other. I have avoided ads By Any Means Necessary for years now and I love the freedom that provides. The podcasts I listen to have replaced news gunk in a wonderful way. U rock, thx!
ОтветитьI personally find that the news doesn't scare me as such it just exasperates and upsets me. I often wish I could just stop caring and times at like these I listen to the song hallelujah by p!atd, the quote 'being blue is better than being over it' really helps me balance myself ☺️
ОтветитьIt can be really frustrating to watch/listen to the news every day. If something really terrible happened you´ll find out anyway. When I watch the news and I hear about shootings somewhere I´m absolutely untouched my it, it doesn´t matter. I don´t know any person who started crying or somebody who got shocked after hearing about how many people died due to a bomb attack, earth queak or something else. I think it´s normal that we just recognize it. If we were be angry or sad about everything bad we hear in the news we would be overwhelmed and exhausted. Of course it´s important to get some information what´s going on in the world but most people think or even it is like that: You can´t change the situation.
ОтветитьI hate the news it's so depressing all these stories about rapist and serial killers and terrorism I always change the channel when shit like that comes out
ОтветитьWatching the news can also lead people to get involved in the world -- e.g. helping refugees, protesting war.
ОтветитьThat's like people telling me to fake it when I'm depressed I say fuck society I hate it I'm not aloud to say I feel severely depressed and I feel like shit because no one wants to hear that from there friends and other people Americans do not know how to deal with reality and because of society know how to cover up how they really feel and it sickens me and it really makes me angry and doesn't help my manic depression or bpd.
Ответитьhey kati how do i post a question for you to answer in your next video. im confused?
ОтветитьOh that's really that's really interesting for me because you don't want PTSD is from being bullied I haven't ever really noticed anything like that triggering me mean other than the obvious pain and anger and and you don't things that come out of traffic but I have never noticed that so you know for me it's just that's why I try to do things on the news stories like them last week tonight where they take all the major news stories of the week and it's a 30 minute show it's all sorted by comity and you know they do take it up Meijer new stories and then they talk about them but there is also this ben's of comedy to it so it's not as in-your-face the 24 hour news cycle type of the thing it's a over Of the week and presented to you and then a major topic so you can think about it processed let me to topic and then pop back in a week later
ОтветитьThat's really cool to know. I feel weird cause I watch the news because I like to know what's going on locally and I like to learn and try to absorb information. I agree it's depressing but I just hate not knowing what is going on around me.
Anyway I hope you are having a Happy Holiday!
Kinda unrelated (just found your channel), but do you have any resources/thoughts on issues with your folks if you're a an adult? I'm 27 and thinking about issues I had with my folks when I was younger can still make me really upset, but yet seem trivial in light of my age and independence. I couldn't bring myself to drive to the airport and board the plane to visit my family this holiday season because of my fear of how my mother can make me feel - although I'm quite certain she doesn't intend to be as harmful as she can be. I have a hard time reconciling this with what I believe to be my otherwise relative emotional maturity (that sounds too serious, and I don't actually consider myself particularly mature, but I can certainly successfully function independently).
Ответитьkati did you delete a video several days ago
i remember seeing a deleted video and seeing that you didnt upload every single day and i forget what days you upload and i remember thinking that the video wouldnt go away if i watched it right away so i thought it was your video it could have been doms live show though even though i saw that
Thank you for this video.
ОтветитьThank you for this! I limit my news intake because I recognized it was making me feel bad & I saw no point subjecting myself to it all the time!
ОтветитьThank you for making this video! Love your work Kati
Ответитьi refuse to watch the news as it makes my MH go spastic.. soo i avoid it at all cost.. :)
ОтветитьThe media is weird, on the one hand it likes to put us into a false sense of security and compliance with the status quo, but on the other hand it also likes to choose trivial things like celebrity to focus on (probably to encourage people to behave more how they want by being insecure in comparison to celebs, so always being after some unobtainable lifestyle and perfection) as well as negative press which is not for our benefit per say, but more because it's things they WANT us to know about in the world rather than what we should. Plus negative things will always draw more attention, the internet has proved that without a shadow of a doubt.
Ответитьcan you do a video about shopping addiction?
ОтветитьI know you have good intensions kati, but why should one "stay informed" when it's so negative and full of bs propaganda. It's the same old stories, war war death more war for profit and oil, money runs the world but the government & rich families in "power" convince the masses they care about us. News brainwashes us to keep us fearful and enslaved, keep paying those taxes. ;)
Anyway, it's best to not watch any, not be programmed by the programmes but instead do some yoga, self reflection & think about what's really important, work on self-growth, self-awareness and then all the positive energy comes one's way :) xx
Ur tips n analytics vids r very useful.. Keep em coming.. Plz go check out This Christmas Chris brown cover. Thnx
ОтветитьYears back I found that the news and tv in general hit my depression really hard and always in a negative way. I came to the conclusion that misery sells and happiness doesn't. Simple as that. Its now 10 yrs since watching tv, listening the the radio, reading the papers or magazines because all those forms of media seem to bare out my feelings on the matter. Misery sells, period.
ОтветитьI really like watching the news so that I'm on top of what's going on in the world. They start with the worst stories, like the ISIS crisis, but at the end, they ALWAYS end with a positive and uplifting story. And I really like that about the news channel that I watch which is CTV news channel.
ОтветитьI don't watch the news anymore. And not on purpose. I don't watch tv that much.
ОтветитьThank you guys so much for talking about this!!!!! Over the past few years I've had a lot of trouble dealing with all the awful stuff that's been in the news and I think it was a therapist I was seeing who gave me the idea to just not read as much as I currently was, like you suggested. But then I also struggled with keeping myself from completely sticking my head in the sand and lying to myself that it's not happening, because also like yall said it's important to be informed. What works for me is reading only as much as necessary to be informed, no more but no less, and then stay away from news for a little while to recharge and remind myself yes there are bad things and they are really happening, but there are good and beautiful things happening too and they are just as real as the bad.
ОтветитьJust quit the BBC you'll feel better! I have done for the last 10years!
ОтветитьThis is so true. I literally had to turn off the tv because they played a clip of a 911 call that was from a mother flipping her shit because her baby was shot in a road rage. REALLY?! WHY DO WE NEED TO KNOW A BABY WAS SHOT?! It's fucking depressing and they're actually going out of their way to play depressing and sad stories. This is why I get most of my news from r/UpliftingNews.
ОтветитьKati made an emotional video years back about being responsible for what we are feeding our brains. I can’t find it. It was after some really sad event, like a school shooting or something. Anyone know what I’m talking about? I can’t find it.
ОтветитьWatching too much news ranks up there with too many soap operas. The info is exaggerated, false and/or inaccurate. Regardless, the info is blown out of proportion.
ОтветитьI’ve been reading the newspaper going to work and I don’t find it depressing. It actually feels quite casual. I think this is more of a 24/7 and online news issue as I’ve found when I consume online news it’s addicting and depressing.
