ОтветитьI love this scene, because the Doctor knows he has to die, but it’s hard for him to accept because of all the “bookmarks” in time he wants to get back to. He has so much left, and he just doesn’t want to die, and he’s scared that’s why he’s doing all of this stuff. He’s almost having a mid life crisis.
ОтветитьStag party 1: WHO ARE YOU DID YOU CHANGE YOUR FACE AGAIN
2: WHY ARE YOU WEARING THE SAME CLOTHES
3: OK IM GETTING NERVOUS DOC WHAT'S GOING ON
4: THIS IS A FAREWELL TOUR ISN'T IT
5: I CAN'T ENJOY MYSELF IF YOU WON'T LET ME HELP YOU
6: NO GUYS WE CAN'T START UNTIL HE GETS HERE
7: HE'S COMING, I KNOW HE IS
8: DOCTOR THIS ISN'T FUNNY WHERE ARE YOU
9: DOCTOR I KNOW YOU'RE THERE
10: DOCTOR
11:
12:
13: WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN I WAS SO WORRIED
The poor Doctor looks so very old and so very sad at the end :-(
ОтветитьHe remembers Rose Tyler...Awe that is so sweet
ОтветитьHe could help Rose Tyler with her homework
ОтветитьAnyone who’s seen classic Who will be even more saddened by this scene...
ОтветитьSo sad
ОтветитьNo, the brigadier!
Ответить"It's all on me except for the money and the driving"
ОтветитьUnderrated finale imo
ОтветитьLove how he makes reference to eloping with Elizabeth I here and then they show it in the 50th.
ОтветитьHe could go on all Jack's stag parties.
That's Jack Harkness.
Lol. He is trying to take the long way around
Ответитьof course the two people he mentions are rose and jack... goddammit emotions
ОтветитьI grew up watching Doctor Who with my dad. I remember when there were only 7 Doctors and Survival was the last ever episode. And although I was saddened by the death of the wonderful Nicholas Courtney I never expected this moment in this episode and I cried so much. A touching moment for a legend in the show's history.
ОтветитьI do not understand why the doctor didn’t just go to a point in time when Rickety was still alive? He literally said he had a time machine before he got the news. Or am I missing some rule on time travel.
ОтветитьI wonder what would've said if he mentioned his other companions.
"I could upgrade Sarah Jane's sonic lipstick"
"I could help Martha name her and mickey's child."
"I could give Donna Noble another lottery ticket.
I have always loved this episode. Keep coming back to it. Delaying the inevitable is human and timelord nature.
ОтветитьWhen his oldest companion died, he knew death is inevitable
Ответитьok i know that this scene was because nicholas courtney died way back then but realistically IN UNIVERSE why wouldnt the doctor have gone back like a year or 2 before the brigadier died XD
ОтветитьDoctor what's wrong.
Doctor: I just found out my best friend died.
Sorry, I’m so very sorry... this scene, years later, still brings me to tears. We’ve all lost friends, and this is one of those moments we all feel.
ОтветитьThe Tardis should not have been able to travel with Dorian's head in the Tardis and his body outside of it.
P.S. - This was an issue with the robot king in 'The Husbands of River Song' Christmas Special.
So he knows brigadier Stewart died but he didn't know Sarah Jane died too. Unless it's separate time of deaths.
Ответить10th Doctor: I don’t grow old. I regenerate. But you humans, you wither and die.
11th Doctor: Some leave, some get left behind, some...
Must be a huge burden on the Doctor to know that he can’t change the inevitable end of the lives of his many companions. Sure, he can just go back in time and see them, but eventually his adventures and stories with them must come to an end.
Man to all the people who watched classic who before this... this hits different. This just hurts.
ОтветитьAlthough the Brigadier's death was sad for long-term fans of the show, I wish they had mentioned Sarah Jane instead (or "as well"?), as that would've hit both long-term fans and ones that were only familiar with NuWho.
ОтветитьI like how the Doctor instantly decided to stop run as soon as he got to know the Brigadier is gone. All of the old guard has passed, so it is his time too, at last.
ОтветитьI just want to mention to you all who havent read The Day of the Doctor novel. The Curater (Future Doctor) mentions that he spend basiclly every day with the brigadier when he got sick, mostly hiding under the bed when Kate came to visit.
ОтветитьHe poured him another cup, waiting for him 😭😭😭😭😭
ОтветитьThis was the big moment in season six that i will never forget and take to the grave. The lessons this show teaches you sometimes man..
Doesn't matter how much we love the idea of living the life of time traveler. We all need to understand that even if we would have the TARDIS and have the privilege to run away from anything to anywhere, anytime, you still can't outrun death.
Of course in real life the BBC would burn itself down rather than letting the doctor die. And now in 2021 the franchise is beyond salvageable in my personal opinion.
You can kinda feel in Steven Moffat's writing he was asked way too much from the BBC. "Can you kill the doctor, but not actually cause season seven is coming and we have nothing written for that yet" he's an excellent writer tho and wish he would come back ❤️
What I find powerful about this scene is the finality of it. The Doctor feels that he can visit anyone whenever he wants since they are simultaneously alive and dead in his eyes, but he learns that 'he never came to visit'. With this knowledge, he knows he can't change it and he can no longer see the brigadier ever again.
ОтветитьI geuss their species doesn't have inner ears
ОтветитьI did a like, just to get you to 1k on this, do with that what you will, fellow whovian
ОтветитьThe brigadier isn't dead, he's just stranded in Peru.
Ответить‘Join the Beatles’
I’d die
Why does time travelers mourn go back 7 months
ОтветитьThis is an interesting scene as it is one of the very few moments, where the doctor is not the one explaining something to a companion, but the other way around. There were more of those moments when River Song was involved, but aside from her, those moments are very few.
ОтветитьThe idea of the Doctor being saddened by news of the death of a friend makes no sense. The Doctor is a time traveller. From his point of view, the brigadier has always been dead, and will also always be alive.
ОтветитьNot only could he not go see him, she confirmed that she hadnt seen him. Meaning he never would again
Ответитьif you read the day of the doctor novel you'd know that doctor was actually frequently visiting the brigadier.
ОтветитьSuch a powerful scene the doctor losing one of of his loved ones until you realise hes got a fucking time Machine
Ответить"I can go to all Jack's stag parties in one night!" The Doctor's voice breaks a little bit there. Deep down, he knows he can't keep doing this forever. People say that Matt Smith hams it up and he often does but little details like the distress with which he delivered that line show that he's more nuanced than people give him credit for.
ОтветитьImagine this scene from that maid's perspective. She probably spent years working for the Brigadier hearing about the Doctor, pouring that extra brandy but never actually seeing a trace of him except maybe secondhand stories. Then one day, months after her employer's death, he calls up out of the blue. She gives him the news and there's just silence before the line disconnects and she never hears from the Doctor ever again.
