You're looking at it from the wrong perspective. Of course top companies won't change because of price or user dislike. But students and freelancers, small companies, and universities are already ditching Adobe for non-subscription alternatives (Affinity, Apple, etc). Eventually these people will be the workforce, and user familiarity will shift from Adobe to these products. It won't happen everywhere, too many companies are invested in certain workflows. But new companies or users are not beholden to these habits, and the industry shifting, 10% here or there will make a huge difference to Adobe's monopoly.

With all of the drama surrounding Adobe lately, are they finished in the pro design space?

In short: no. I seriously doubt it.
