I use riding chaps bc since im still growing and i change the boot when it feels tight
ОтветитьPlssssssss react to this dressage abuser Alicia Dickinson
ОтветитьI lease a horse and I have to have my own saddle and saddle pad because they don’t provide.
ОтветитьThank you haha this is helpful! Ive been riding for three years now and when i move to my new barn and ride there for a few months, me and my mom were thinking about leasing a horse but she doesn't know a lot about horses and can be a little to supportive and try to overbuy, (totally am great full for it sometimes she just acts like she knows everything Lol) I can show her this video
ОтветитьThank you for this. It will be very useful
ОтветитьPlease research a horse named Rita on a channel called IMA “ I'm a survivor “ & “Long horn Lesters” They actually have 2 channels. But they have this horse called Rita that they in my opinion are ruining. This horse they got as a colt, bite’s kick’s swings it's butt around you you to try and kick you. Won’t let you it’s stall and is food aggressive. This horse has already kicked “Jamie” the wife in the mouth. Broke her jaw and nicked all her teeth out. The Husband Lester feeds the horse ”Rita“ treats just to be around her, because she will chase you around her pen. She also picks on all the other horses, she gave one horse a black eye and swelled up face. I would like to know who's fault is it the horse is like this.
ОтветитьIf you are in a colder climate like Norway (greetings from Norway) get 2 of some of the things like boots. One for summer and one for winter since in almost all boots ur feet will freeze off. And most winter boots are a loooot cheaper. That was the best investment I did
ОтветитьI ride at a riding facility that uses bits. About two years ago bought a bitless bridle that I use in almost every lesson. My instructor agrees that about 85% of the facility's horses have no need for a bit. I agree that when you are leasing or taking lessons you do not need your own bridle but I am glad I have swapped over to riding bitless (lately even neckrope) with the horses that can.
ОтветитьI had nothing much new for my first 10 years of pony ownership. Helmet, crop, a browband and some grooming supplies. Everything else came used from v knowledgeable folks :)
Ответитьyou can buy things like saddle pads or a cute halter but ya dont go and buy an entire tack set
ОтветитьThis was so helpful
ОтветитьPlease stop harassing mark. Your government has already took enough from him. Btw you shouldn’t own horses.
ОтветитьYep nobody tells you what you really need because 99.99% of horse stuff is crap you don't need. I don't really understand why you would buy the long boots since in my experience I have never needed to buy chaps to wear with paddock boots but to be fair I actually use steel toe boots rather than paddock boots they're just an extra bit of safety, but I don't advise riding in them are they are wider and they will get stuck in your stirrups. If you buy jeans make sure they're not skinny jeans and you're riding western, skinny jeans and english stirrup leathers will rub you so raw. Do not make that mistake. As for gloves I would not choose to buy gloves to ride in, but I would advise gloves for yard work, I have several pairs; regular and waterproof for those really wet muddy days. It keeps your hands cleaner and prevents you needing to rewash your hands, which can dry out your hands especially when it's cold. Brr.
ОтветитьI don’t own a horse but I’m getting saddle pads for Christmas and I’ll have to get a tack box for shows along with grooming tools
ОтветитьI agree on almost everything... except the sadle pad part... let me tell you why, when i was still taking lessons the saddle pads they had their for the horses were NASTY!!! nobody EVER washed them! They smelled like old molded cheese and crap! they didn't have many pads so these pads were used also over and over again through the day... you can imagine in summer time with the heat all that sweat just building up on them and not even getting a chance to dry until all riding lessons were done (these horses could have up to 10 lessons per day)... often id go to grab a pad and found it was soaking wet... In short i bought my own and what ever horse i rode that day had a dry and clean pad at least although it was almost always the same horse since I loved that one specific horse over the moon so they mostly assigned me him.
ОтветитьAwe man…. I already bought a saddle, pads, boots. bucket, sponges, blanket, grooming stuff (really nice brushes, $30 hoof pick), leather halter, tack box with the stable logo. You name it. I don’t want to actually own a horse so I just pretend the lesson horse is mine to spoil and I’m saving money by not actually having a horse.
ОтветитьI disagree with the paddock boat part
ОтветитьI completely agree with everything I said when it comes to riding lessons! the only thing I disagree with is if you’re leasing a horse I don’t see a problem with buying a halter and a saddle pad. You definitely don’t need it but I don’t see the harm.
ОтветитьIt depends on where you are in the world in NZ if you are leasing a horse most of the time you have to get your own gear sometimes they will come with gear but most of the time it doesn't fit I have been leasing horses for 5 years and always had to get my own gear other then rugs.
ОтветитьI put a grooming kit/brushes, saddle pads, and treats on my Christmas list. Now im scared😭
ОтветитьI STAND with asking what the horses can and can’t have, once I brought carrots and asked if I could give the lesson horses some, they told me I could but if I brought something else (like treats or other green things) I would have to ask again to check if the horses could eat that. Once this girl came with apples and I told her “hey just to check have you asked if you can give the horses those?” She got angry with me and walked off and started feeding the horses, one of the trainers came and saw the apples and immediately looked stressed out and asked the girl what horses she gave an apple to. Turns out she gave an horse who was allergic to apples one and had a severe allergic reaction. The vet was called and everything was fine in the end but that girl got told off and they got really angry at her because she should’ve asked. I’m so glad the horse is okay and the girl hasn’t given any of the horses something to eat since. Thanks Raleigh for this video and helping people out❤
Also I’m sorry if there is any grammar mistakes my native language is Dutch but I tried my best🤍
(Edit: sorry for this hella long story but thought I should share)
As someone whose shorter and has trouble finding tall boots I mainly only wear paddock boots with chaps unless I’m showing, I’ve had my paddock boots for years and I still wear them bc there so comfortable and not broken down or torn, however I have three sets each newer than the last and so I do recommend if you ride a lot make sure you replace your boots when needed. AND GET YOUR TALL BOOTS PROPERLY FITTED!!
ОтветитьAnd remember everyone! If the leasing space does not have certain (fitting) tack for their horses and discipline, then maybe you should not lease there!
Ответитьyou posted a vid judging horse trainers can you do LC_Mustangs she’s a mustang and liberty trainer!
ОтветитьIs it bad that I got a saddle pad, halter, and grooming kit, ect. Butttttt he’s my lease horse so is it fine?
ОтветитьHi Riley, could I please get your opinion on the Santa Barbara Spade bit. When I first saw it, it looked like a torture device, but after watching a video, it's almost like poetic. If you are an experienced, very experienced person in this type of bit They said it's actually gentler than other bits. what is your opinion on this? You are just so much more knowledgeable and smarter and you have so much more education on these things. I value your opinion. And I'm just trying to learn more The correct way , Thank you, Riley
ОтветитьFor my first lesson, when i was 5, all i had was... nothing, for about 2 months, i jus puted on leggings, a shirt and sneakers and the stable provided a helment and they had some body protectors that other kids gave to them cuz they outgrew them. Then i got breechers, paddock boots, chaps, body protector, gloves and a helment. than after 5 years i switched barny, and i had the same things (just bigger obvy) and than after a year i got my own 90cm whip as it was easier than searching for them cuz they always got lost (the riding centres ones) and i was alredy close to my riding instructor at that point as i was helping out basicaly every day and she said it was okay. then a year later i saved up money for great riding boots and an even better helment, breechers, body protector and gloves than before, plus a new whip and i gave previous stuff that was still good but i outgrew to the centre. And now after 5 years at this centre/barn I got myself the mane brush for button braids cuz i love making them and i plait my instructors horses mane when she has a competition,... and its usefull cuz its small and i use it for my hair as well lol. And I have my own treats now cuz my riding instructor allows me to and knows that i won't overfeed the horses with them as i am one of the stablehands. And I just got my first horse equipment today for my b-day after 10 years of riding - a halter and a lead. And i made a few earbonnets and saddle pads on my own cuz i love sewing and i gave all of them to friends who own horses, my riding instructor and the centre.
ОтветитьI’m kinda a saddle pad hoarder and I’m obsessed with getting my saddle pads especially because all the saddle pads are my barn are really old and thin and very very dirty but I think if you want at least one of your own saddle pads go for it but you do not need one they are expensive and your obviously gonna be provided with half pads and saddle pads also the tack box thing my instructor doesn’t let anyone have a tack box if you don’t lease a horse and she provides small little cubbies for the people who lease horses regularly so you can fit like saddle pads boots crops etc but like they really are not necessary I keep all my saddle pads and my riding bag in my grandmas trunk and I just carry it all to lesson and that works fine
ОтветитьYou need to react to spooked again (graphic) day by day vlogs
ОтветитьHi😊
ОтветитьAgree to disagree on halters and treats if you clear it beforehand
ОтветитьIf I was a beginner rider I'd buy helmet, boots, trousers and the first aid kit (I always have one in my car anyway). Most of my riding clothes are my regular clothes that got a promotion, after years of use, to my barn clothes XD
ОтветитьHave these breaches that I got from Amazon and I have three pairs from three years ago they still fit they’re very comfy very warm and they were only about $25 each so they honestly don’t have to be expensive. I mean these are good.
ОтветитьSo off topic but can you make a video about day by day new video about first time riding in the snow bare back galloping
ОтветитьMy trainer told me that you have to be 12+ to wear tall boots. So I bought the paddock boots at Dover saddlery, and then used my mom’s old half chafts that fit me. (she never wore them.) But I mean I’m not sure cuz people have there own opinions
ОтветитьI was so happy to see you posted! I’ve been riding for a really long time and have started to consider leasing so this was really helpful! I was looking for a video like this and couldn’t find one until now!
I also needed a bit of horse related content because
i haven’t been able to ride for the past 3 weeks and I’ve had that itch where I just need to feel a horses breath or that feeling of being around the animals.
This is stupid, why would you go there? It's a rip-off and she's only 12 years old.
Ответитьim gonna get a sign that says dont feed me if my owner doesnt know u so they dont feed my horses lol
ОтветитьI'm sure you have come across him, but it you haven't looked at horseman Monty Roberts yet - it may be worth a look.
ОтветитьCan u React to Aaliyah‘s horse world please cringe warning
ОтветитьI have a lot a tack trunk for travel and show purposes but I understand where you are coming from.❤
ОтветитьIf you can’t wear it yourself don’t buy it.
ОтветитьI remmber Rick Gore saying ppl shouldn't wear gloves riding cause if they do they don't know what they're doing and they just have them to yank on their horses face and not get burns from the reins but half the time I don't really agree with him anyways
ОтветитьI almost agree with everything. But when you live in Finland you also need to have some warmer jackets, gloves and breeches🙈❄️....
ОтветитьLove this! I made lists I gave to parents/students to help them save money. Growing up as a kid I paid for everything myself so I am all about a good deal.
Another thing is shop second hand! Consignment shops, online, Facebook etc. Also just ask people at your barns, they often have things they dont need anymore and sometimes barns have a free rent section. esp for things like paddock boots for kids since they outgrow them so fast
Hey Raleigh! I’ve been riding for seven years (since i was 7) and i have had the same helmet for all that time (i guess my head hasn’t grown) i was wondering if i should get a new one or if that one is still good for a couple more years?
ОтветитьThis honestly made me laugh a little. Beacuse at my barn jf you want to lease lesson horses wheter its half lease or full lease they make you buy your own saddle, bridle, half pad, and square pad. So although rileys advice was usefull. It was just funny what she said regarding ny own situation. ( for the lesson horses they do have their own saddles and bridles but the leasers arent allowed to use them only the lesson kids.
ОтветитьI have tuff rider paddock boots which I wear with half chaps and they’re amazing imo, as an English rider I personally think he length of boots don’t matter as long as they’re durable.
Ответить
