Not sure you figured it out since I haven't finished the video as of writing this but to make talismans you have to draw them yourself using your mouse click to draw in the pattern shown...the more accurate the better quality

If you make a very bad feng shu room and put the dying in them they drop a anguishing soul gem when they die

Earth flux and wicked earth flux are items you can eat to increase max Qi, one of the core way to do it though is to make Manual shelves and copy everything into it once you do you can teach traits from every law onto the same person (normally stick with laws that suite you and pawn ie fire laws don’t learn water law traits because they cost a lot) it’s a necessary to increase max Qi and get important spells

I don't think you need to set up defensive stuff(as in walls, set up of buildings) in this game, especially not early, you cultivator and/or pet will deal with everyone easily until you gain a lot of reputations. Mainly focus on expanding sect, cultivating while finding secrets in the world like new laws etc. Max qi is the most important stat

You can send the cultivators to the cities and have them recruit people if you need labors

70 years old is not old man ,cultivator can live up to hundred of thousand years
