This is going to probably be somewhat controversial but hey...here goes.

I’m of the opinion that this is the best overdrive pedal ever made, period. Over the last 30 years or so, I’ve owned overdrives of every stripe. While I LOVE tube screamers and my zendrive red dot, the kot just beats out everything I’ve ever used. And yes, it sounds great...but that’s only one part of the equation. It sounds great in every room I’ve ever played it, through every amp with every guitar.

If someone’s paying me $800 to show up and play for a couple hours, my gear needs to be beyond reproach. It has to sound good EVERY time and it needs to work EVERY time I step on it. The kot does that. I can rely on that pedal in ways that I can’t with basically any other pedal (besides maybe a good tube screamer circuit). It’s sonically predictable, authentic and it places your midrange perfectly in musical context with the band. Other pedals have come and gone but 4 overdrives have stuck around my “first call” stable....and the kot tops that list.

There’s a guy in my country who makes great KOT, POT and other clones for a reasonable price. KOT is $185 AUD. I just got a Simble clone and next week I’m going to get his KOT clone. It’s a great option rather than waiting for two years and paying so much for original. Reply yo me if you want the guy’s eBay shop address. 👍

I love my KOTs, one is standard gain, the other is both sides set to higher gain, my favorite pedal ever.

It’s a terrific pedal, but 2 1/2yr waiting list… nah.

Do you believe anything you se on tv Kris ? You seem like that kind of guy. It is marketing. There is nothing rare in KOT. Just repeating all the myths in guitar world won’t take you very far.

Thanks for the video! I have one and I was surprised to see it was going for almost 1000 euro on the second hand market. That's crazy! And offcourse I am tempted to sell this off. But after some thinking and playing solo with it I won't, because it's just such a great pedal. Would I ever pay 1000 euro for it? Offcourse not, but I have one that sounds great, so I won't sell it.

Also I hate it when people make money on products like this off a hard working man overseas. Mike could sell them for 1000 euro, but he doesn't, and that is also what is so charming about boutique pedals.

I've got a feeling also that there's nothing rare about the components in the pedal itself and that's just a bunch of propaganda from analog mic he's just saying that to get people to buy the pedal I give you dollars to donuts that my jam pedals rattler with its special New Old stock vintage rat chip is more rare I just got a bad feeling about that but I mean it's cool man I would love to have one don't get me wrong I mean I'm sure it probably sounds great into a slightly overdriven app but the sound on its own by itself I don't think it's all that great I'm telling you I'll take a jam pedals rattler over a king of tone all day long and twice on Sundays so I'm kind of sick of hearing about this and jam is just as small although not American that little tiny company is out of a really small office in Greece

Das "King of Tone" klingt wirklich hammermäßig, aber ich habe gesehen, dass das Pedal gar nicht mehr hergestellt wird. Welche Alternative würdest Du empfehlen? Wie Du merkst, sammle ich gerade Infos zu den für mich am besten klingendsten Pedalen.

honestly I can nothear anythihng that is very "magical" with this pedal !? I bet there are many , many boxes doin e the same. It sound quite conservative, just with little gain" .If the box doen NOT color the sound, well, its fine. My tube screamer from 1981, sound just heaven, but still , it takes away somw bass, and ........well, it sjust good ! What I would like from another pedal ( i also have the purple REVV ) its for heavyrock!) BUt I wat a box that dont take away the genious sound I get from my amp; suhr badger 30.

Just got a KOT v4 w/ High Gain. Paid $950 I like it. Still prefer the Klon KTR more.

It's the best - and mine is only a demon fx clone. I've had Greer amps pedals, Hudson, hot cake and more. Every time, I play them a few days then think.. what if I try the kot clone again.. just for comparison.. w t.f?!! It's always the best. Someone stop me typing drive into the internet pleeeaaase

Thanks for the demo and info. I've had a KOT on my board for about 8 years. I took it off for one gig to try out another pedal and totally regretted doing that. I've also had it set up like yours with a right side overdrive (high gain version) and left side being a clean boost. I recently got a Warm Audio Centavo that I'm using as a boost (really does sound nice for lead tones), so I haven't been using the KOT left side much. I recently changed the dip switches to 'distortion mode' on the left and really like the saturated distortion coming from that little pedal - sounds great for an alternative lead sound. Also, I think the KOT only really comes alive when the volume is over 2 o'clock on either side, then set drive to taste. If the amp is too loud, turn the amp down, not the volume on the KOT. I'm lucky, I didn't pay that much for the pedal second hand. Would I pay $1200 CAN for a new one if I lost my current pedal? Probably not, but I'd certainly miss having it on my board.

This video was made AFTER put myself on the KoT waitlist and I've just taken delivery. 70 months! What I still don't understand is how the waitlist just got longer and longer (2 years when I signed up, 6 years when delivered...). This tells me that I've been dropped down the list significantly, OR production slowed down. Those are the only two explanations. I'm happy to have received mine, but I'm glad I had other options and it does not change my universe.
