I have a HP Z440 motherboard with no cpu and I have a 2620v4 its compatible but how do I update the bios

V4 XEON CPU (E5-2699 v4) is fit it ?

can the processor be replaced by a desktop processor, like an i7 chip, or does it always need to be a xeon chip?

Hi, Thanks as I did just what you instructed! I replace my Z440 CPU 1603 v3 with 8C Xeon E5-1660 V4 3.20Ghz 20MB Processor. All works great except I see no speed difference. Any help here as to why? Thanks!

when i buy this z440, sellesman told me you can't install V4 processor in this machine, is there any model difference ?

Help my workstation, HP z440, wont show anything in screen. Before that it boot it up and I could access the BIOS. I changed some settings in the BIOS.The error then was the 6 beeps and I fixed it by pressing the CMOS button for 5 seconds. Now the computer does not beep, but it does even show anything on screen (no booting or even displaying the logo of HP), it is just a black screen. Moreover, when I now power on the computer, it create static noises and it seems that motherboard does not give any external power (like mouse and keyboard wont work, but the internal fans of the computer (CPU fans and video card's fan turn on). I need help, I don't what to do to fix this.

Tell me what I'm doing wrong please. You say to update the Bios but on like 3 of my older pc's I would go into the Bios and click update, every time it would mess the pc up so bad I couldn't get back to desktop, it would give errors that there is no drivers, no OS, no hard drive, etc. So I stay as far away from updating the Bios as I can. I will never update a Bios ever again.
