The world will take away many things from the happenings in the USA of today. I fervently hope that a most important lesson learned will be the necessity of teaching the children well. One of the worst sins any society can commit is to continually tighten funding for education. I believe education should be state supported from pre-school through undergrad studies. An unacceptable level of ignorance has brought my neighbour to the the south to a precipice. That should never have happened and all of us, everywhere, should heed the lesson.

I have visited WWI and WWII cementaries in France during the centennial of WWI, and again last fall on the drive through central France. It's heartbreaking. And that there are American nitwits who see autocracies, with all their greed, corruption and suppression as desirable is enraging.
