They got the characterisation drastically wrong in this film.
He should have reacted to Hershey like he reacted to Dredd.
When Dredd arrived he should have had a moment of existential horror and immediately complied with everything Hershey said.
Hershey is reasonable, for a judge, Dredd is not.

First time I saw this seen I thought he had killed someone from the explosion and I'm like damn they fast...😂

Really like Diane Lane as no nonsense take no shit Judge Hershey, especially in this scene.

To me, this is better than original 1987 Robocop, James Bond, Predator, and Terminator 2. I rate JD 7/10, because it's dumb fun.

With the lack of resources, you'd think the punishment for a suspended license with multiple DUIs would be something more like u lose the right to own a vehicle of any kind and you'd also be put on a blacklist so u couldn't buy alcohol anywhere. I'd love to see this guy's reaction if Dredd opened his car door instead of Hersey.

For the non-Dredd afficianados, that quartet of heavily-armed and armoured hombres at the end are SJS - Special Judicial Service. Anything the Judges can't handle - or if one of their own steps out of line - the SJS are sent in to deal with.

At that point, it's usually a question of whether you come quietly, or whether you have an open- or closed-casket funeral. No fines, no time in iso, nada. You're either walking away alive and in irons ... or you're a mist on the pavement.

This is the ideal version of Dredd for kids. Urban's Dredd is accurate and awesome.

I know that we all agree this movie sucks. But it can't be denied that from a visual design standpoint, it absolutely nailed the vibrant 2000AD -comic book stylings. Compare & contrast this to the infinitely superior "DREDD" movie which otherwise looked like a bleak colorless slab of concrete...
