Given how much I laughed like a maniac at some of the shit in this game and how scared shitless I became during random jumpscares, I have to agree there is a great balance between horror and comical moments in this game.
ОтветитьI remember laughing lots after finding the receipt for the "shadow-activated doorway" from the 90's. It felt like the dev's were making fun of themselves a little with that one. 😅
ОтветитьI think outlast is another game that mixes horror and humor extremely well. I will never not laugh at this scene in whistleblower when the soldiers find dr. trager’s body and go “they even took his god dam PANTS.” 🤣🤣
ОтветитьBiohazard is pretty much the Texas Chainsaw Massacre of the Resident evil franchise. It has the simplicity, but at the same time it's hilarious, and it's the utter terror of madness that makes it's scary. The same qualities that make TCM a classic.
ОтветитьThe only thing this game fails at are the puzzles and maybe the combat, it's too easy
ОтветитьThe game that got me into the series, been a huge fan since the release of RE2R. Thank you RE7
ОтветитьResident evil 7 was dead ass terrifying if you didn’t have a heart attack at some point during this game you’re lying
ОтветитьNot scary at all
ОтветитьAm i the only one who never saw him get in the car? i always thought you were supposed to run him over it works
ОтветитьLegit just found your channel, what a wonderful horror/story telling voice
ОтветитьBest movie that mixed horror and humor hands down was the original Evil Dead which was the biggest inspiration for Res 7, both are probably my favorite horror media next to Scream and alien
ОтветитьDead Space lets you feel powerful, then it slowly starts to take that away from you.
ОтветитьEvil Dead Trilogy. My man, It's horific because the demons crack jokes and feel happiness with the suffering of the characters. I think that's the worst horror someone is having a great day by making us suffer.
The Evil dead series amplify it further.
Um, you said your hand was pinned to the wall by a knife during the Mia hand chop sequence. But it was a screwdriver. dislike, unsubbed and I've reported you. How dare you! 🤪
Ответитьagreed village was not scary, action
Ответитьhmmmm, really odd seeing that this game was funny to another person. This game utterly terrified me, granted i plated this game when i was 14, so maybe that explains things. This game filled me with fear, its by far the best horror game I've played that actually horrified me.
Ответитьresident evil 7 was a masterpiece, i was terrified
ОтветитьIt's interesting that the game will have Jack drive the car himself. I found the key and was in the car when he did all that and assumed that was how you were meant to progress that scene
ОтветитьMy brother described IT part 1 as “the funniest horror movie (he’s) ever seen “. And I agree, though I have seen fewer than he has
ОтветитьI love the Zelda Majoras Mask music hahaha
Ответитьshout out to the ikana canyon music !
Ответить2nd time I've watched this video and I think you have summed up here why RE in general has always jelled better with the public than Silent Hill, SH tries to make very single moment serious and uncomfortable where RE has always tried to create that see saw effect of Horror mixed with comfort, also RE games have never been afraid to play on horror cliches that the developers know will probably make you laugh a little, Dr Salvador for example, its funny because he's so horror movie cliché because you immediately think of Leatherface but it doesn't make him any less terrifying to go up against, when we find out Alfred has been cross dressing as Alexia and taking on her persona, hilarious but at the same time still creepy because you now have grasp of just how mad he really is and yes of course you also think of Norman Bates which makes you smile at the same time as being scared, I don't think any game in the series mixes all this stuff together better than RE7 though which is why its my favourite horror game of all time.
ОтветитьComedy and horror are actually quite similar mechanically. It's all about building and then releasing tension. I think Jordan Peeles horror films strike a good balance between humor and horror.
ОтветитьSo... All Resident Evil games are called Biohazard in japan, not just 7
ОтветитьLot of evil dead easter eggs from the chainsaw to the dad saying Groovy to Losing your hands
ОтветитьThe jolty movement of the mold men, especially in their heads, actually serves a gameplay purpose in that it makes their heads, their weak points, harder targets to hit with your limited ammo!
ОтветитьEvil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness = Ash Williams = Perfection 😁🥰🥰
Ответитьit reminded me of evil dead at times, I love it
ОтветитьSpeaking of music. But no moment in any game will ever have the same impact as the first safe room in the original resident evil 4. I know in retrospective it's not that scary, but as a kid walking into that room felt like a gift from above.
ОтветитьThe big bad literally brings out chainsaw scissors as you are about to have a chainsaw sword fight and he says "groovy" while you run around a bunch of body bags strung up like pigs.
That is both incredibly absurd and fucking thrilling.
Screwdriver. She pins your hand to the wall with a screwdriver. Not a knife.
ОтветитьThe Baker house very much brings to mind the Japanese concept of kegare. The rot and mold and decay isn't just discomforting and grotesque, it reflects the spiritual contamination of the Bakers themselves, having become monstrous individuals under Eveline's influence, trapped in a hell of rot, infestation, and disease not of their own making.
It's also the reason there's always (at least) a poison swamp in From Software games.
This was also my first vr game. Thats also why this became my favorite resident evil game
ОтветитьOh, and also Junji Ito's work is a good example.
ОтветитьI feel like a lot of David Lynch's work does this type of horror perfectly as well.
ОтветитьThere’s something about this game that keeps me constantly on edge. Even though I KNOW exactly when Jack can appear because I’ve seen so much gameplay and know how it’s scripted, there’s always this tiny feeling in my head of “what if my copy is different? What if he can appear here?” And it genuinely does throw me off throughout the entire game. Such a great antagonist, that I feel like he can break the rules of the game.
ОтветитьThat's the RE sauce, if you just scare someone non stop, either they'll stop having fun or they'll acclimate to it, RE likes to change the tone from time to time so each tone can have maximum effect.
ОтветитьListening to this is like listening to Ben stein who is a nihilist
ОтветитьThat traverse where the dirty water is up to your neck almost made me puke. I’ll never forget that.
ОтветитьDead Rising was a great experience because I was expecting just some slapstick version of Resident Evil but it had some genuinely chilling, and even some emotionally powerful, moments.
ОтветитьI love how funny RE games are all the time. The whole point is that its like a campy horror B-movie!
ОтветитьIt is unfair that Jack Bakers’ voice actor did not win best voice acting in TGA in 2017
ОтветитьI want to play on PS4 vr2
ОтветитьStephen king, loves mixing funny with horrifying, does it very often
Ответитьthe only best game i played this year
ОтветитьIs that zelda music?
ОтветитьWhat is so scary about this game is the fact of not knowing when Jack is going to strike.
Ответить
