There are many ways to kill a cat and Colles fractures are also treated by many many ways, most commonly being by closed reductions and casts.
In elderly patients, the results of non intervention are often satisfactory but not so in younger or high demand patients in whom a precise correction of ulnar variance is essential for high performance wrist function!
More demanding patients with wrist fractures these days have two options, distal locking radial plates or external fixators, both with their own problems. MIROS is a wonderful BRIDGE system developed by Mario Tangari of Rome Italy, and as I race towards completing his book or techniques in English, he sent me the video.
