1 thing I wish I knew:
the game is bad

You won't get enough Blueprint points to unlock everything, at level 99 you will still have 38 items you cannot unlock, 32 if you use talent points to buy the 2x 3 BP point bonus in Solo tree.
There are also 12-13 things currently in "coming soon" status so you will want to keep some for those Blueprints if you want to get those when they release them.

No more talent points??? Do you know how many talents there are and you get max like 60 or something. Instead of ending talents points at lvl 40 they should end at like 60,65 or 70

This games needs to be more difficult if anything.......

What an aesthetically uninspired game. From the videos i've watched the most alien thing you fight is a damn cave worm? Not to mention i'm supposed to suspend my disbelief that i'm a space faring astronaut that has to use cave man tools for some reason? What a damn stupid concept. It's clear they had no idea what they wanted this game to be and went for the safest thing they could do.

#11 with shooting anything especially with bow crouch gives you a sneak bonus that does 2.5x damage you can kill most with one shot.

so let play a game that you can explore the landscape nooo let use a map that some else made to find every thing lol why even play the game why not just get a bot at this point to play your game

Player tracker Module is useful in missions where it is specifically mentioned that you won't be able to see the map or other players. Typically it's only true for some hardcore missions.

#7 debunked - The player tracker module lets you put a marker on the map which then appears on your compass. This is extremely useful for navigating without having to constantly bring up your map

#9 cave worms - Easiest to kill with a knife. Just run up to their hole which you can see before thy come out and hit them twice in the head.

Wait you can get small sheds I don’t have to keep building just to get out of storm hoooow

At the beginning of the game, my FPS is above 70, but after a few days and progressing in the game and building the house, etc., the FPS gradually drops below 20. Does the same thing happen to you?

TIP: Turn your graphics on low and you can see every animal from miles away

This game shouldn't have been fully released. It should have been an earl access for less money. Good ideas but doesn't blend well

Tip I wish I knew in my first couple of hours: You can right-click and repair your broken/damaged tools.

Seems obvious now, but I was throwing them away in my early levels.

The bear tip is 100% a game changer. I used to die to bears all the time because you simply can't outrun them and I thought my only recourse was to face tank the bear and hope I could do enough damage. "Bull fighting" them makes them trivial and I now actively hunt bears because they're such good sources of xp and resources.

Is the game full loot drop or partial loot drop when dying?🤔

things I wish I knew before buying it - 1.) all of the missions are generally the same, 2) that they would decentralize and delete my data after I uninstalled 3.) The dude needs to eat drink and smoke oxite every 2 minutes 4.) that to build a gun you need to farm for about 100 hours, and the gun lasts 20 shots. 5.) the building system doesn't work, there isn't a piece for every scenario 6.) the electrical system is flawed, no batteries, no parallel circuits, not all devices can power all equipment. 7.) bears sometimes just spawn in at random ( watch your back, even though you just looked, look again. 8.) That a storm happens every 3 minutes forcing you into a rock 9.) That the devs would listen to the silent minority and the biggest update would be you can ride an ostrich. 10.) that to do very simple things you need to build 100 workbenches and also need those benches to repair your tools, so don't go too far from home......even though you already mined alll the useful resources within an hours run... 11.) that it's simply not worth buying, for a premium priced game that uses your pc as a data host because the devs are too cheap to operate like a real company. 12.) that the dlc for the worst game ever made costs as much as most full games, and gives you more of the same repetitve garbage you've already been doing....yay

I love the theory behind player progression in this game- so they made the game as tedious and boring as possible. as you level up it just makes it less tedious.

i was like, when i wear a spacesiute is my oxigen as long as not bein under water. then i tested it. yes you can stay like ages under water. i never died of lack of oxygen or water or food jet.

If you can´t find the Cave, thats on the map. sometimes the entrance is under water. i even found one where i had to mine the stone at the entrance in a lake.

Worm spawns in caves are endless for me. One cave had 4 to 7 in it based on the map you linked. Think I have killed about 25 in that cave so far, possibly more. They just keep coming back.

is there a way to put a waypoint that is permant so you can find your house if you go exploring

I still laugh at the fact you can breathe underwater because air-tight oxygen suit, but you get pneumonia if you stay in a cave too long, and the projectiles cave worms launch at you cause poison clouds, which apparently, when breathed in, poison you.

I've played "the long dark" for a long time to know bears wouldn't simply charge at you like that.. ffs dont fight a bear like you do on icarus 😂


This game is similar to the long dark, that's what got me interested in the first place.

Wish i knew about the Bear tip! Walked right into a polar bear. Got my ass whooped. Had a deep cut didnt have points to get a sucher kit. Got festering wounds had to walk/run around and try to level with 3/4 of my stamina gone and a -5 experience debuff. 10/10 would fight a polar bear again. I love Icarus so far, I'm glad i finally picked up! Oh, and not to mention thinking oh if I die, festering wounds/deep cut will be gone. The game said nah not so fast that crap will stick with you thru death."

Why cant i skin an animnal?

The bear strategy does NOT always work on polar bears for some reason, sometimes they’ll run past you, other times they’ll turn on a dime. learned the hard way

I just learned a trick...if u "DIE"...unconscious & can't be ressed, solo, extra hard mode...just start the mission all over again by going to the NEW block...u have to buy all ur stuff again, but at least u don't have to start from Ground Zero with NUTHING, right? Just make sure you have some CURRENCY to buy all that stuff again!

I know this a 2 year old video. But there are a few things to mention. When you get to using steel tools, I keep my iron pick axe after making the steel one...because the steel pick can harvest the higher tier ore. So I use the iron pick on all the lower level stuff to not wear out my steel pick as fast when I finally get to the higher tier ores. Or you could just bring a basic anvil workstation with one steel bars to repair while you're out.

Then with fighting bears, as long as you get to a river with deep enough water to make you swim...you're faster then bears in water, so can swim backwards and just stab it in the face for easy crits that kill it very fast.

Going into a game blind is way more fun that knowing everything about it from the start.
what's the point of playing if you already know everything?

if anyone is here recently - the best early game shelter is to dig a hole into a large rock, if you get deep enough it’s plenty of shelter during storms and trees can’t break rocks - some rocks are even big enough for a fire!
