I was lucky enough to catch the queen still in the hive, with 4 capped queen cells in it. Quickly moved her and some crew and resources to a fresh hive. Hopefully, she stays.
ОтветитьThanks for the video! We had this issue recently.
ОтветитьThanks I need a incubator I'm assuming the temp is 98 degrees
ОтветитьAwesome! I believe Roger Patterson said never waste a queen.
ОтветитьI almost had another swarm yesterday! Caught the queen just as she was about to emerge. I didn’t see a queen or eggs. But luckily I was going to combine hives and remove her (inferior) anyways
ОтветитьI really enjoyed that video. Good luck to Carl. He got some great experience.
ОтветитьThanks for the videos! Is it normal for a queen to stop laying brood in september or are they in trouble? There is about a half deep frame of capped brood but alot of open empty cells. I didn’t see a queen during inspection. The hive is pretty large and seems strong. Should i be buying a new queen?
ОтветитьLearned a lot, thanks
ОтветитьI found out to keep bearding down is to add a empty frame box to the top of the hive and they will hide there if vented. Pennys help with venting.
ОтветитьI appreciate all your videos and I am leaning a lot from your vids. This is my first year, running 2 hives in HiveIQ out in SE NC… just finished my inspection and had a hive with 4 capped queen cells and a couple open with larve in RJ. Found my queen still in there. I destroyed the cells, advice from others in area but not sure if that was the right move. Brood pattern still good. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
ОтветитьGreat experience for a new keeper..
ОтветитьNever thought of the incubator! Cool idea!
ОтветитьNo matter how long I've been into this hobby, I never stop learning. Thank you
ОтветитьCan you do a follow up vid with the mating nucs?
ОтветитьOh, I love this episode!!!!! A little different than the usual. I would be so nervous working with you !
ОтветитьIt is late in season here in Darlington S.C. and I have a small softball size swarm in a tree today. Bees do crazy things even with Temps going down.
ОтветитьIm so excited to see you harvest queens
ОтветитьI love this type of episode. Very informative
ОтветитьSo how would you get the queen mated?
ОтветитьWhat temp is the incubator?
ОтветитьBased on what I just found in one of my hives, I think your queen died. If it were a swarm you should see more swarm cells even if they swarmed. Those emergency cells are a big tell.
ОтветитьDo you worry about the temperature of the queen cells dropping too much during harvesting?
ОтветитьThat was a great video, thanks so much for all the effort and time you put in passing on your knowledge to us.😊
ОтветитьHa David this was really good. Hope u and Sherri have a Blessed week. I hope u get Carl back Not meaning to down grade anything but i do so much enjoy the vedios when u are going into the hive showing and teaching someone I think they are really great. Sorry about the swarm but it was really cool watching how u cut the cells out and saved them I hope u let us know if they emerged and how it all worked out. Have a Blessed day
ОтветитьGreat video! The weather looks good for us this week and I'll be doing inspections and will watch more closely for swarm cells. I also really like your coat / hat combination Dave, I'm wondering what brand it is.
ОтветитьI trapped a Giant Swarm in my Swarm box on August 31st. I was going around taking down my traps and there was a giant swarm on it. Enough to Fill a whole deep. I was amazed.
ОтветитьI would have liked to have known what a 3-day old larvae look like I know your cameraman is working around a second person but it's hard for us to learn when we cannot see anything you're talking about up close, tip for the cameraman Thanks
ОтветитьI really liked the on the fly beekeeping video I learned a lot thanks
ОтветитьGreat episode, so interesting. Way to go Carl!
ОтветитьI would love to see a video on what you do next, after the queen emerges inside the egg incubator. What do you do next to get the queen mated and ready for use?
ОтветитьDavid ..can i put my waxy honey leftovers into my top feeder ? At least until its gone and then switch to sugar ?
ОтветитьHad a swarm this summer. Numerous supercedure cells. Left them alone for the queens to kill each other but had two more cast swarms. Caught one of them, two queens were in it. Bees don’t read the same books we do. Thanks for the video.
ОтветитьMaybe do a fall livestream on fall swarms. I had 2 hives swarm. Uggg great video 😊
ОтветитьHow long can you support hatched out queens? Is there a way to store them long-term for backup?
ОтветитьHi David, I've been watching your videos for a few months now. Great information, learning a lot. I started to 1:1 sugar feeding about a week ago here in Michigan. I'm waiting for my additives to come. However, when I went out to check on their feed, there were several wasps at the entrance eating the sugar drips. I took out 1 quart jar. It seemed to help. How do I prevent wasps from going into the hive?
ОтветитьI've got a couple of hives in town in Noblesville.
ОтветитьGood stuff. My problem is they attack me bad... any tips
ОтветитьWhat temp do you keep your incubator set to? I have a couple of them and might try to save some cells next year.
ОтветитьThanks for sharing!
