FINAL FANTASY 13-2 FOR BEGINNERS

Why do people say XIII-2 "makes gameplay better"? All characters get interrupted over nothing, chain gauge feels weird and you can brute-force most things, quick time events are not welcome at all, crystarium is a mess, monster system could've been a LOT better and just feels too complicated and too expensive to experiment on, historia crux just feels arbitrary and convenient, artefacts are uninspired, sidequests are mostly crap, time traveling never feels organic, jump button... jump button is cool actually but the rest is just... wow

Steins Gate a good story about time travel some what.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 was by far the game I had the best experience with. Of course, I had so much fun with the classics as a child, but I never wanted XIII-2 to end. The music, the gameplay, the core plot (meaning Caius and Yuel). I got 100% on my first playthrough and never got tired of it.

The ending absolutely gutted me.

I'm trying to play this game 5 years after this video was released. All I can say is, this story is ridiculous as stated in the video. I don't give a crap about anyone in the story so far except maybe Noel, and I don't like the monsters as a third party member. I dislike the fact that Sahz and Lightning have such small parts in this game.

But man if the game isn't pretty as hell, has great music, and the combat can be fun at times.

I got fkin stuck .... I remember playing this years ago didn't finish it. Wanted to get back in and have no idea what's going on. The last thing I remembers from years ago was that I was fighting that Caius guy on top of a boat. Tried to look up walkthroughs or w/e but have no idea where to go now. Having to deal with this time period changing is annoying.

I liked the game enough to get the platinum trophy XD
And I think I bothered to get the platinum in original game too.

Bought this on a whim not trying the previous game and its a top tier FF imo.
The music is godly, the story is okay and I really liked Noel and Serah as the co leads and had some genuine emotional scenes which have always made me fond of jrpgs

Thanks a lot! I was not sure if 13-2 would be good enough like 13 because of the lack of Lightning. But after watching this video about an year ago, I purchased the game on steam and absolutely loved it. Better than 13 in gameplay mechanics and design.

For the live trigger pretty much every single reward is behind the x or square button

I’m playing this at the moment. My only issue is having to search for things and those damm puzzles. Whether you are searching or looking up the location of the items, it feels like school work, I’m here to play a video game, not solve maths problems and spend hours looking for something.

Honestly tried final fantasy for the first time today and i was excited for it tbh, being a wow player ive heard alot about it. But after playing this one idk what the hype is, the combat is so bad imo and boring. I wish it was more user controlled like other RPG, the almost "turn based" combat is a turn off for me personally.

13-2's gameplay and battle system was the absolute best.This is still one of the best games of all time for me. I think the only thing that it lacked (aside from a coherent story that makes sense) was a hub world of some sorts. It didn't have to be a giant field or anything, but just something to make it not feel like we were choosing worlds from a menu. They could've gone the Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep route and had the different timelines in a space you could float to. Or they could've used the Historia Crux as a sort of home base, which was wasted potential honestly, since they did have some times where the Crux glitched and they ended up in those ruins a few times. Those ruins would've been a perfect home base.

This vid makes FF XIII-2 seem funner than it actually was for me. Chrono Trigger was a much better time travel game.

This game was garbage. It’s like a bad joke. To think a game worse than 13 could actually be possible. A game that was unbelievably awful as it was. Then, they outdid themselves with Lightning Returns which was even more terrible. If they released one more game as bad as these , the series quite possibly could’ve become obsolete.

I like how you openly hate thr 2 sexiest characters the game has going for it in Serah and Chocolina. Chocolina is weird ngl but brings some character to the game too.

I genuinely don’t think the story is bad. I think you went with what most people online say… as did everyone else until it snowballed.

To this day, I don’t find the story of 7 to be that great despite everyone saying it’s a masterpiece…

13-2 feels like a soft reboot for 13 when it comes to it's world and lore, especially since they basically retcon the ending of the first game. It's definitely my favorite out of the 3 games, the gameplay (especially combat and the monster system) is so much fun and you get a better idea of what this world is like both on a macro and micro level which was one of my major criticisms of the first game. In the fist game, aside from the final big open area in the third half, each environment felt disconnected and it didn't help that there were so few towns to explore at your leisure. It left me with the feeling that I really didn't have any idea of what this world was like geographically, what cultures occupied it's different parts, or what the people living in it were really like. This was all pretty much completely fixed by 13-2, while I'm still not the biggest fan of the lore, I felt like I at least had a better idea of the smaller nuances that make the world feel more lived in.

I hate to say this but if you didn’t like the story because it makes your “brain hurt,” that just means you’re dense. Don’t crap on things because you don’t understand them. The story was rich with philosophy and mythological references. Helps to know a little of those things.

nothing else... she's the female protaganist as hot as tifa in the face and soft eloquent and heart-warming like aerith, too. we're talking a TOTAL PACKAGE.

I think Nomura’s writing can be summed up to pretty much
. Pretty good at writing character arcs…for most characters…mostly.
. Not very good at writing plot at all

it's funny you say they fixed the gameplay and ruined the story because my complaint about 13 is that its story is really good, but a movie version would have been better than the game we got. considering i played bloodborne expecting there to be no plot (hoo boy i was wrong in the best way), i think i'll give this a shot.
