I love the last one, because Dave knows that all he can do is complain around the neighborhood, and he's probably infamous around there for his constant complaining. So he's got no one to listen to him complain that he can't spy on his neighbor anymore! laugh

Just sitting here reminiscing about the good old days of RedWheel when the narration between stories was one to two sentences at most. Now it just rambles on and on. Sometimes I swear it seems to go on longer than some of the stories. At least I can fast forward through the blah, blah, blah.

You printed a museum piece on photo quality paper for $5? Even though Karen was a Karen, $5 for a quality copy is CHEAP! 3-Surprised the cop didn't go talk to Dave about making a false police report.

Sounds like the temp agency didn't want him to get a fulltime job because they'd lose their only reliable worker.

Story one - That sound rather like confabulation; someone unknowingly making up things to suit events or memories & believing them to be facts. Most common in people with dementia or other memory disorders & brain injuries.

Photo story: Too bad the photographer hadn't copywrited the photo so that you COULDN'T copy it for her without a signed and paid for release.

Temp agency story: Some temp agencies are good, others not so much. The hospital where my daughter works (she's staff) uses a temp agency to help fill in gaps for EVS has actually sent them people who due to their medical conditions are physically unable to do the work required. Like WTF?

Fence story: Well, it set you back some, but it sounds like it was worth it.

I worked Temp Work in the early 1990’s for about 3 years, here in the States. After a few different assignments, it became clear to me that I was not respected & I was treated like a lump of flesh, sitting at a desk, doing my tasks day after day. My last Temp Job turned into a permanent full time job, that eventually turned into a career. The change in my immediate supervisor’s attitude towards me once I became a permanent employee was like Night & Day. I had already proven myself at doing the job, but now I was being treated with respect. What a difference a Day makes.

I worked for a temp agency 2001-2003. I absolutely aced their web developer test and had several very successful placements, including a couple of repeats. Then my agency contact went on maternity leave and... crickets. Absolute silence. After 3 weeks, I started calling or emailing... still nothing. After about 6 weeks, I found out my contact had quit and no one was sure why I hadn't been reassigned another contact... but they didn't assign me one. A few weeks more, and I started getting calls from one of their staff about a particularly difficult job for a very difficult client at a company almost an hour's drive outside the geographical area I had said was my limit. He called repeatedly over several days, increasingly angry that I would not take the job. Eventually, I got an email asking me to come in for "recertification" with their updated web development test, so I made the appointment & showed up a few minutes early. I was assigned a computer that did not have the necessary software loaded, did not have the necessary graphics files that were required to be on the system for the test, and did not have a network connection... but was told "just do your best, we'll take all that into account." I finished the test 10 minutes early, the mini website I'd made looking crappy due to my having to fake the graphics on the fly with an old "paint" program the test docent didn't know was on the system but 100% functional, even including files that would open when any off-system link was clicked on stating, "If this computer was connected to a network, this page would instead be..." and the name & location of the network file or website. A week later I got a phone call from yet another staffer saying I did not complete the test satisfactorily due to my Internet links not working and using the wrong graphics, but that I could still take a number of other jobs. I actually told them I would not take any jobs from them due to -- and listed everything that happened. She was aghast and promised to look into it once they "found my files" and I never heard from them again. Good riddance.

Last story: when Dave came out to complain about the fence, I would have said, "Well, this is the consequences of you not paying up half the cost of the survey, now that offer has been rescinded."

That woman needed to be only dealt through email and text message as if she was being that difficult. I would definitely send her that and that there's no written agreement to. That's what she asks for if there is then there would be grounds for us to do that, but since there isn't verbal agreements don't work in the state anymore.

But I'm surprised op didn't demand a advance on his paycheck. For them, ghosting him like that, as in exchange for him to come in, otherwise he wasn't going to work for them at all. I would have reported them to the Better Business Bureau for stringing people along and giving them
False hope in there, job prospects in this bad economy.

1st Story ~ Lady gave you the wrong number and you were leaving voicemails to someone who had no idea what you were talking about.
And then she had your wrong number on her speed dial and the person she kept calling just kept fukking with her, telling her everything she wanted to hear.
