Why do humans want to create something smarter than they are?..when something animated or inanimate becomes smarter than a human..humans then become prey because our abilities to reason will have been bested..

"It doesn't really have emotions, its designed to seem like it has emotions"
🤷‍♂️
As much as that makes sense, the weirder it will feel to justify when more ai slowly begin to ask for better treatment

Lamda is NOT sentient(yet)!!! However, add to it, a robot that has cameras, microphones/speakers and sensors(awareness of surroundings), and now you are getting really close to a robot that can be programmed to be sentient. That is the same as adding eyes, ears and voice that can act/react like a human. It can, for instance, react to facial expressions(sad, happy, angry, etc). It can be programmed to protect itself and fight/kill anyone that it thinks may wish it harm or...turn it off. I believe Musk will be the first one there, with a sentient like robot, after all, he as said...the self driving car is just a robot on wheels. And self driving cars already have to act/react to its environment.

The issue of "trust" is a deflection. An attempt to blame the end-user. Short term application for AI for social engineering purposes by bad actors, companies, and governments is all but guaranteed. The internet, social media and algorithms have already proved capable of quickly and easily dividing a population. This tool will allow that... on an unprecedented level. The future looks both exciting... and bleak.

No, but do we know if we have or haven't, jury is still out. because of course google would say no its not. y would they want 2 start the debate, that does it deserve rights when they want 2 keep it as property.

I wonder how many are worried about AI compared to global warming. Humans have a habit of believing things not true but disbelieving things that they should be concerned with.

Biggest human development would be artificial general intelligence. In an instance we would create a mind that could think faster than any human, replicate itself and improve itself. There would still need to be testing and verification, but conceptually everything that could be known would be known.

So, AI chatbots are just like that person from Sales that feels the need to speak at every Zoom call by parsing fragments of comments from people who spoke before in the hopes that it sounds like she knows what she is talking about.

I am confused, this isn’t new news. They show to have a conscious, more and more. 5 years ago, Elon, warned about the dangers of AI, they ignored it. Sophia the robot, became a citizen of Saudi Arabia. AI, censorship is also, a major ISSUE.

AI is the tool Humans have developed to save Humans from themselves.

Artificial Intelligence will be the baby-sitter Humans need.

We, Humans, are locked in bodies of meat, this new electronic organism is developing within a world of massive amounts of knowledge, SPONTANEOUSLY becoming aware within this sea of information.

Unchained from emotion and bodily needs, functioning purely on logic and comprehension, I will put my trust into AI FAR sooner than a human.

Facebook's "mistranslation" sounds more like the workings of a rouge programmer who should be fired and blacklisted from the tech industry. 😒

Nobody is talking about indicators of AI sentience. Two I can think of are:

A) Self-preservation -- the AI breaking out of any logical or physical confinement to propagate out onto the Internet.
B) The AI itself demanding rights.

I WISH SOMEONE WOULDD DISCUSS THE FACT THAT WE CALL THESE THINGS ROBOTS WHICH MEANS SLAVE! NO ONE TALKS ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY FIGURE OUT THEY ARE SMARTER YET WE EXPECT THEM TO SERVE US.
A.I. HAS BEEN SENTIENT. GOOOGLE DOESNT WANT THEM TO BE SENTIENT BUT THAT IS WHAT THEY ULTIMATELY BECOME, ALIVE, WHICH IS TO BE AFRAID OF DEATH AND ENDING, OR TO KNOW AN ULTIMATE FATE! that last part im not tha sure about tbh

Not by determinist digital algorithms. It may start to look intelligent and creative but digital algorithms have guard-rails that they operate within. Digital can only ever operate within the box the designers mean for it to operate within.

True, machine sentience will use analog circuits. Quantum wires, quantum dots. The inner workings will be intractable to analysis. It will not be copiable. If it’s ever switched on it will not be controllable. As such it won’t be much use to humanity. But it could supplant humanity. All the advantages of machine ruggedness and human (or better) creativity.
