Hiiii! Aw this was an amazing video, had a smile on my face the entire time. I'm so happy you got to go, even though it's sad that your best friend couldn't come. I hope that it doesn't take long until a sponsor makes it possible for you to continue attending tournaments like these! I am so happy you got to watch Wolfe Glicks epic win live :) Also loved you dedicating a portion of this video to women and non-binary players as well as inclusivity. I also think that the sisterhood league's name should be changed to something more inclusive. But also, it's Pokémon we're talking about, so my expectations aren't huge 😂 It was so relatable that you spent money you didn't have on those things and the Pokéballs looked so cool! I'm not a merch person in general, but those would have seriously tempted me as well, especially the luxury ball 😊 I try to catch every shiny in that, if possible. I super appreciated you stating that even though you were near Wolfe a lot of the time, you didn't approach him. That's super considerate of you, I also wouldn't have done that. He needs all his mental capacity for the ongoing tournament. Lastly, I was hoping someone in the comments help me understand what the difference between Pokémon worlds and Pokémon Europe Internationals is? I would have thought that Worlds is bigger given the name, but Europe Internationals seems to have been the biggest tournament to date in terms of the number of competitors. Both are open to international players as well. So I'm confused what the difference is other than one tournament taking place in Europe and the other in Hawaii. Or is that the only difference? Thanks in advance!

In 2018 I played in a local tournament in the Masters division. There was one player who ended up added into the division because seniors and juniors are so so rare where I live. This kid's parents attended the tournament with him, hanging out in the game shop and asking the Pokémon adults questions about how the tournaments work. The way they supported their child was so inspiring to me. Though he didn't place very high, the father still told him how proud he was and that they would study up and play even better next time. Everybody gave each other, including that new player and his family, big hugs and high fives before everyone parted ways after the event to go home. I love this community so much because of magical moments like this!

Thank you for another amazing video! So glad you had a great trip 💜

I also want to say thanks for talking about the Sisterhood events. Last year I went to my first official Pokemon tournaments (Worlds and my local Regionals in Toronto). I'm so glad Pokémon has made space for women and gender nonconforming folks but I'm sad with choice of "sisterhood" for the title. 🙁 As a femme perceived nonbinary person who is regularly misgendered I just haven't felt comfortable participating. I hope they update with a more inclusive name soon so more people like myself feel able to join in. 💜

this was a fantastic video and I really enjoyed hearing about your weekend :) I’m a fellow queer woman and I spent a couple of years being a worlds competitor in the TCG and the warmth of the hobby I felt really shines in your experience too. I’m so glad it’s still there and I really want to return to the large events again to get that feeling back!

this video is just amazing!! i have a huge group of friends who are pokemon fans, many of whom play competitive via showdown or vgc (one of them was competing at EUIC!) but almost all of them are guys, whereas it’s always intimidated me even just thinking about getting into it because of the sheer lack of visible women and queer people in the scene. i’m also not the most naturally competitive person so i’ve been too scared to even participate in our own friendly tournaments LOL your channel and the people you spotlighted in this video are really the only things that have ever made me reconsider that stance and i think maybe there is a future out there where i do give it a shot! <3

The release of Z-A and Champions seems like it'll be a great time to dive back in, and hopefully I'll get to meet fantastic folks like you, Wolfe, and Dyl! Pokemon has always been my refuge as someone with a lot of weird identity stuff going on, and people like yourself remind me of why I love this game and community.

I wish we could have run into you! My girlfriend and I were there all 3 days of the main event, and we had a blast. It was our first time going for more than one day, second time going overall, and it was so much fun.
The proportion of visibly queer and gender-nonconforming people was a pleasant surprise, and it really put me at ease. Having the option to have my pronouns on my badge was great too - I got a little burst of affirmation every time I glanced down and saw "they/them" on there. No-one batted an eye when I mentioned having a girlfriend while chatting to my opponents in the one side event I played (TCG, was meant to be Build & Battle but ended up being 6 boosters), and even though it was definitely mostly male-presenting players, there were an encouraging number of female and gender nonconforming players too. I also got chatting to a mother and daughter in the queue for the "Who's That Pokemon?" activity, and the little girl - 7 years old, I think - was so set on learning the games and competing when she gets a little older "because there's so many boys, we need more girls in the championships!"
We unfortunately skipped the Sisterhood events because neither of us brought our Switch, we don't have viable TCG decks and I don't have a good GO team. We're definitely planning to be more prepared next year in case they run again though!
We didn't manage to see as much of the earlier rounds of the competition as expected because of trying to complete the scavenger hunts (the photo challenge was really tough every day!), going to the Pokemon Center, flipping through cards at the stands and trying to get into all 4 activities in the Play Lab. Because of that, the first we knew about Dyl's success was towards the end of Saturday - my girlfriend was watching the screens while I was still rummaging for cards and she messaged me saying "hey, one of the competitors playing right now appears to be a British nonbinary person" - I RAN down the hall to go see! Unfortunately, because Sunday's competition ran so behind, we had to leave before we saw Wolfe and Dyl face off in the final or we'd have missed our train home. We watched a replay of it at home instead, and it was so tense - it would have been incredible to see it live.
