The reason the heating tip is whistling and warming up at the mixer is because you are STARVING THE FLAME. If the rig is in good conditions, starving is due to acetylene pressure being too low. There are o rings in many mixers so you don't want a backburn at the mixer.
ОтветитьSome extra things to know:
-Check the regulator max pressure against the tank it's going on.
-Make sure the cutting tip is sized such that you don't exceed 1/7th of the volume of your acetylene tank in an hour or moderate your use such that it doesn't happen as this can cause the acetylene to behave similarily to when it is above 15 psi.
-make sure your acetylene tank remained upright for 24 hours prior to and during use.
-Always purge your lines and regulators before opening the main valve and when opening the main valve especially with the oxygen do so slowly to prevent compression in the regulator causing an explosion.
-if you don't already have, get a flashback arrestor at both the torch end and regulator end of your setup.
-keep the tanks chained up.
Can someone answer one question that i have why is the oxygen cylinder green and not blue as per international standard?
ОтветитьThank you for the video. Just got a set up today at a yard sale and looking forward to using it. 🤘
ОтветитьAnd please beginners buy flash back arresters

ОтветитьThank you very much Paul from Woodward Oklahoma
ОтветитьWhat # of lense should you be using while cutting? 10 or darker?!
Cleaning tips? What to do with a popping torch?
Using a pice of wood to drag clean your tip?
What number and size of tips are used for what purposes?
Thanks for sharing your videos.
👍👍🎯
Keep acetylene bottles vertical at all times.
ОтветитьGood video, but I wouldn’t be cutting over top the hoses. They might last longer!! Lol
Ответитьgreat vid. thanks ...just starting.
ОтветитьMost torches use propane now. Do something on those
ОтветитьGreat video. Gonna try some cutting tomorrow
ОтветитьGreat content it was very helpful 😊
ОтветитьVery good job sir!
ОтветитьI know this is an older video .... but great job! Well done!
ОтветитьNice simple and to the point from someone who knows what your doing, thanks.
ОтветитьGreat video. Very helpful!
ОтветитьWell, my boss uses this video as an intro to using the oxy-acetylene torch, so I trust it.
ОтветитьUnfortunately, with ALL this great instruction, his valve disengagement was 100% wrong. ALWAYS shut off Oxygen FIRST due to suit blowback potential back inside the tip/chamber. "The safe and correct method is to shut off the Oxygen first."
ОтветитьWill acetylene by itself burn cleanly?
ОтветитьGood show
ОтветитьSettings for heating and bending 1" x 4" bar on my mower.
ОтветитьThank you sir. Very helpful.
ОтветитьGreat video but next time just cut over the hoses
ОтветитьThank you. Not many people or places will teach you this for only a like out and share. I’ll come back to freshen up on my basics with this video. Great video and teacher.
ОтветитьAt least i have gotten something 😋
Ответить👍🏼🍻

Ответитьthanks , ery helpful
ОтветитьAcetylene tank caught fire at local shop, workers dragged it outside, burned all day, all safe. Then farmer propane tank caught fire, fire men hosed water, tank burst, 4 people dead.
ОтветитьWell after watching this I was able to use a torch on my own for the first time to do what I needed to do and managed to not blow myself up. So I consider it a success.
ОтветитьI've always turned the gas off first then the oxygen on my cutting torch is that wrong do I need to turn it off the way you said let me no and thanks
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьThis was great! Thanks for the tips!
ОтветитьHelpful. I work straight with my father's mechanic shop and sometimes we have no choice to use the torch for some stuff so this helps me learn a bit quicker.
ОтветитьEveryone said it’s you cut the oxygen first then acetylene
ОтветитьThank you.
ОтветитьI use to work with a mechanic who always shut off acetylene first and would hear the torch pop drove me nuts he needs to watch this video honestly
Ответитьvery helpful for a do it urself guy like me. thank you
ОтветитьQuick tip: always, always, always make sure your sparks are hitting your gas hose. It helps ensure a quick and almost painless death.
ОтветитьExcellent presentation; thank you..!!
ОтветитьThanks man !
ОтветитьIt has been years since I have had to use a cutting torch. You brought back all I learned in welding school. Best video I have seen on the subject. Thank you
