So Barry, would you rather get this or the Rosa Stick? BTW love your videos and I have been dying to see another one!
ОтветитьHowdy
Yes I agree very soft sounding. Reminds me of my cigar box ukulele. But I guess that was their intention on this model.
Wonder if someone with the skills could cut a sound hole if it would bring out the tones more?
Have you reviewed the Redwood S10 in the purple glitter finish? It's the one I have as a beginner
ОтветитьI can see why it's called lonely player 😁
ОтветитьI really don't see the point of this instrument. If you want it for travel it's not much shorter than a soprano, has poor balance,is uncomfortable to play and sounds like.......(insert your own derogatory word here.)
ОтветитьI like oddball instruments (I've "got a ukulele" with those mando-tuning Aquilas), but this one looks very awkward to hold.
ОтветитьI love travel ukuleles. All of the limitations and quirks are a plus to me. :)
ОтветитьReally apt name 'cos no other bugger would want to sit by you playing that !!
Ответить"like rubberbands on a margarine tub" lol ... Oh Lord, Barry mate! (can't stop laughing) 😂 x
ОтветитьOh come on down voter - give me a CLUE you loon...
Ответитьmakes my plastic Ukulele sound good
ОтветитьVery interesting design, and kudos for thinking outside the box, but to me..it is the little ukulele that couldn't. I would go crazy just trying to hold it! Thanks for showing us something that is quirky and not usually seen!
ОтветитьThis being marketed as a travel ukulele, I'm guessing its name is a play on the travel guide books 'Lonely Planet'.
ОтветитьI have one of these and I can echo the complaints on fretting and holding. But I also like the sound. I compare it to an old radio or gramophone. It's compressed in a way that's unique. There's a right song for it. I used to keep it in my car because the heat and dry air of Arizona don't affect it. I'd pick it up while waiting at the drive-through coffee stand. It never failed to start a conversation. Now I have an Outdoor Ukulele that's equally up to the heat but much easier to play.
ОтветитьA UK brand made in China
ОтветитьAll right..I quite like some of the instruments Vietnam..i have a few from a luthier called Bruce Wei
ОтветитьThey messed up not making the body larger and encompassing the tuning pegs within the opening and perhaps reversed. The bridge placement would be improved and fix the tone as well as address the ability to hold it. Many better concepts online than this use a turnaround.
ОтветитьNo idea..shame if he is
ОтветитьLol, that's all I'm going to say....
ОтветитьKind of sounds like the ukulele I made. For context, the frets are made of nails, it's thicker wood, the nut is plastic, the bridge is fiberglass (you know those orange driveway markers; it's made from one of those), the sound hole is oversize, and the fret spacing was screwed up, so instead of being a 15 inch scale, it's closer to 13 because of Adobe Reader defaulting to 92% printing size.
ОтветитьI lost it at "rubber bands on a margarine tub". Guh.
ОтветитьYou look like you are in agony trying to play that thing. Another great review. Was considering something like that to keep in work for lunchtime practise, but that sound <eek>.
ОтветитьGood as an art piece.
ОтветитьLooks like the Vietnamese don't know how to make ukuleles I don't like the looks of it I don't like too much about it
ОтветитьJust got mine and I love it. Of course it’s not as good as a full ukulele BUT it’s the fact that it is quirky makes it brilliant for the money.
ОтветитьI countered his thumbs down vote for you. Thanks for the reviews.
ОтветитьI love mine. It plays as quietly or as loud as you want it to. Great travel/practice ukulele.
ОтветитьThe name has to be a play on “Lonely Planet”.
ОтветитьCrikey
ОтветитьMy first impression upon hearing it was "My god, it sounds like a ukulele being broadcast over AM radio". In a strange way, that almost makes it sound nostalgic or retro.
ОтветитьI learned much from this, thanks.
ОтветитьIts not for me, I'd rather have a Magic Fluke Flea, but it's got a unique voice that someone will like.
ОтветитьIt could be the strumming sounds like "that" because of the floating bridge. It's an idea? Otherwise I think it sounds good enough. One benefit of the moved headstock is arguably increased durability--less lever action on the neck to worry about. Stylistically, I like the look, too. Irrelevant though since it seems this model didn't catch on well enough to reach beyond the UK.
ОтветитьBizarre.
ОтветитьIf you use a small Command Strip from 3M, you'll be able to attach a strap, and it won't damage the wood.
ОтветитьAbout presentation:
❤❤❤ as usual 😉.
About the instrument:
😨😨😨.
It looks just like a "uke" i buildt myself last year. Nothing I' m proud of!!
But thanks for an interesting review 😀
This little uke left me with very mixed feelings. It sounds like a toy-ukulele...
