State Fair was always a HUGE to-do for us 4-H'ers. We rarely had time for the rides or other things because we were tending livestock, making sure our food and/or plant submissions were correct, and just generally worrying about whether we had a shot at winning.

The best ride when I was a kid was. "The Scissor" you would climb in and it would pivot you up in the air and turn you upside down and all your loose change and stuff would come out of your pockets!!! And they had a steering wheel that you could use to stay"upright" but that made it worse!!!
Years latter when I was in Flight School there was a maneuver called
" Induced Stall Spinning"..
and it felt the same way...
I would always start making
"Whuuuuuweee" sounds and gigling like a two year old when I did it and my Instructors thought I was .... well you know...nuts.( a lot of them liked it too..). Most people are terrified at doing spins in airplanes... but I love it. Makes me feel like a kid again. 👶

I know this particular fair because I go to it every year. Ah sweet memories of the coastal Carolina fair. Or at least I think it's the coastal Carolina fair.

BUMPER CARS: I spent three years in Spain. The Spanish LOVE bumper cars. From driving in Spain, i suspect that bumper cars substitute for driver's education.

I've thrown up on a ride at the Oklahoma State Fair 1993. The ride operator was not too thrilled as he received some of in his hair

Mom and I watching the Cattle judging doing our own to see who is better 😂🤣👌🏽👍🏽🙋🏽‍♂️. Visiting the Rooster 🐓 Room to see All the various breeds. Then to see the winning Veggies, Fruits. Basically we do the country stuff not rides haha. Mom I miss you. 😢 🤲🏽

When did the South start allowing Black people into County Fairs? Was that part of Brown vs. Board of County Fairs?

On the other side of the counter (the operators, vendors, workers. Basucalky, the carnies).

Last day of the previous year: I am never coming back! Folks are so bad; I hate the boss; the noise, the entitlement; the traffic and parking, and HOURS (12-14 hours open to close). I'm never coming back!
Paycheck day (bulk check at the end): Okay, nice check, but I'm not coming back next year.
Three days later: Is it (when ever opening day is again)? What do you mean it only been a few days since it closed. I have to wait a whole year? Again?

Any ride that comes off a trailer and is operational 30 minutes later, and operated by a one armed person…yeah, skip that. 🙄🙄

you cant forget the 4-h exhibit, art exhibit, food exhibit and all the other contests and exhibits they do.

LOL😆💕👍😆I was at my county fair in rural Florida back in High School. We got on the death trap called the Zipper. The door was held shut by a rusty cotter pin. By the end of the ride I was praying and crying. When I got off, the pin was almost completely out! I was the one closest to the door. Most of hose rides are so old that Moses rode them.😰

When he said the ride are supposed to creak...I was in line for a ride and one of the operators was talking to these girls he knew in front of me and told them for they're safety "dont go on this ride, something is broken and the owner made a quick fix so he could make his money and its always put together too fast without inspection" ummm nope, we left the line with the girls

Them laughing afterwards had me crying😂.

I literally just went to the fair today. Never again. It was so packed people could barely move and i only went for the new foods that I couldn’t find.

Lack of seat belts? LOL. ROTFL.
