The MAKE videos on this channel aim to enable every Maker with the right access to tools, time and budget to build their own flying windmill.
This video shows end to end the entire process how to make the main shaft for the base station. You will have to cut two M20x1 threads in the process. Since I had trouble finding information on how to change the gears on my HELLER lathe I have included the info - just in case somebody has a similar model...

The video is very long and very boring. Only watch if you want to make the shaft and if you are no expert on the lathe. I know just enough to get the job done. There are better videos on youtube if you enjoy skilled metal work :) You have been warned.

Disclaimer: I am a google powered tinkerer. That means I'm messing with way too many things that I understand just enough to be dangerous - but not enough that you should use me as guidance on how to do any of these things. I just show one possible way to get the part that you need. If you see me do anything _really_ stupid or dangerous please let everybody know in the comments. :)

Thank you!
