ОтветитьIf you're looking for a cheap standing desk setup, this is what I did in 2020 and am still using today. Get a desk that is always standing. I got mine from Ikea. When you want to sit, get a barstool. Since it's not that comfy, you will want to get up and take breaks after a while. I also recently added a walking pad (from Amazon, although I try not to use them often) and it's crazy how many additional steps I'm getting on WFH days now, when I was previously getting <1000. In the whole day!!
ОтветитьIt is not cluttered. I just prefer maximalist style.

Super useful information and ending suggestion super
My desktop was getting cluttered with cables, batteries (some on charge), pens, clips, manuals and hi-fi gear like headphones. I already have wall brackets so decided to add slim 15cm (6") shelves. An old biscuit tin (they don't sell shortcake in metal lunch box containers now) provided a storage box; hiding all those tiny things away when not being used. Neat clean desk and tidy shelves.
All was well until I found the desktop accumulating even more clutter and the shelving behind the monitor storage for more tins with even more stuff which must have lived somewhere else before. There has been a shift from dry cell batteries to built in and no-replaceable rechargeable batteries from mobile phones and laptops to tablets, earpods, remotes, radios, internet radio, Bluetooth speakers, smart watches, fitness bands, computer mouse, keyboards, and even pocket torches. Even those with USB C cables still need their own chargers and wont all charge from the same cable.
The bigger problem is the number of mains sockets and cables into the computer(s) and other equipment. Coiled cables become undone and seldom remain in place particularly if plugged in and out often (mains and USB, Ethernet). They also need to be long enough to move the device for reset and dusting.
After experimenting with all kinds of setups (sitting, standing, sitting and standing, tread milling etc.) I've found being on the floor by far the most effective and healthy for body and mind
ОтветитьReally wish your editor would calm down, constantly changing camera angles and that for no reason. How brain rotted do you think I am? 😂
ОтветитьWith desk setup, a huge part of the gear usually needs to include affordability. I 100% need (as a photographer) a 2 monitor (or ultra wide) setup, a full sized tablet, and a computer that can handle seriously resource heavy programs working at full tilt. Laptops that can do what I need are VERY expensive and cannot be upgraded in the same way a pc can be. Every time I would have to buy a new laptop for over $1000 (more like $1500 to $2000) I can upgrade my home built PC for $500 and get better performance than the laptop. I get that my ATX full tower is a huge space hog, but it also holds many gigabytes of RAID storage, never overheats, and has saved me many thousands of dollars over the 15 years I have had it. I would love to find a way to save on space, but the functionality vs. price is just a tradeoff that can't be made.
Ответитьmeasurements! Priority number one and I even think a lot of furniture are made in shitty sizes by purpose.
ОтветитьMore gender neutral language would be much appreciated (man -> person, his -> theirs).
ОтветитьOwning the apple monitor stand is enough to immediately disqualify anyone from giving desk advice.
ОтветитьExcellent!
ОтветитьThe cable management tips have been duly noted. Thank you!
ОтветитьI totally disagree with suggestion to use a low profile chair instead of an ergonomic chair. If you want aesthetics and dont care about price, get a herman miller chair. If you don’t care about aesthetics, get a mid range ergo chair.
ОтветитьThis video is definitely what I need omg. I'm at GAS right now and you're totally right about the day dreaming the more acquisition you have.
ОтветитьYour voice sounds...... familiar
ОтветитьI have that ikea chair. I’m a violinist and finding a chair that has no arms but is shaped well enough to practise long hours and push away was really tricky. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it doesn’t wheel easily unless you’re sitting on it. Weird! It is great for height adjustment and back support though and wide enough for having hips. 🎉
My version of a standing desk is a good quality music stand. Practising standing as well as sitting so super important as is lighting. Different temperatures affect reading and eye exhaustion hugely.
Loved this video even though it’s not really aimed at me but there are lots of cross overs.
I was struggling about my new desk color, after watching this video, I decided to make it monochrome. The video is very persuasive and logical, I like it!
ОтветитьDefinitely going to start removing empty crisp packets and moldy cups of coffee from my desk sooner after watching this
ОтветитьI'm getting a tiny studio apartment meaning my workspace will also be my bedroom, living room and kitchen 😅 the only separate room would be the bathroom and the tiniest of hallways...
ОтветитьVery well made video, unfortunately, missed to add value/insight to a topic that's already widely covered
ОтветитьI just realized that I fell on to G.A.Syndrome 😥I believed the single-function would be the investment and value, but it only added clutter to my desk, constantly rearrange it. Should have watch this video long time ago. 😔
ОтветитьThis video is right in time, thanks!
Ответитьwhat is your monitor and the monitor arm?
ОтветитьMore is more.
ОтветитьThank you very much.
ОтветитьMy problem is finding a chair that doesn't cost an arm and a leg that is also durable. I'm not a light guy. I like to lean back and have to get a new chair every few years. Or, as I am currently doing, repairing the chair to get more time out of it.
ОтветитьBrilliant video ! Just what i wanted to hear at #10 … I m torn between 2 desk from ikea ……. Do you recommend a particular desk height for a man who’s 6’ 1 inch tall exactly
ОтветитьBiggest mistake of all is to have your PC setup in the bedroom. Studies show that people tend to be lazier and have trouble sleeping. I would suggest putting that Mac on your living room or kitchen since you don't have much.
ОтветитьWhat type of light behind ur monitor?
ОтветитьDaniel... brother!! How are you? Greetings from the guy who had a Johnny Bravo haircut haha!
ОтветитьBla, bla, bla, your video is too long, Making it more succinct would be better
ОтветитьToo bad that most standing desks look both commercial and unattractive -- much more so IMHO than ergonomic chairs.
ОтветитьSo many good points! Better tools doesnt make a better craftsman.
ОтветитьAwesome video. I was just wondering about this topic the other day!
Ответитьdekstop is basically my living room LOL
ОтветитьJust the video I needed, excellent presentation and delivery.
Great points raised and very helpful.
Disagree about the premiss in the intro: gamer setups with flashy RGBs, figurines etc. aren't just about function, they are very much an aesthetic choice. There are tons of videos about people decorating even the inside of their PC case, or how they have different smart lighting schemes for different games (whether futuristic scifi shooter or cozy farming sim). It's just that their taste is different from the average interior design enthusiast bubble.
ОтветитьThe one with the most tools when they die wins.
ОтветитьI will just say that I find the Aeron to be a pretty attractive chair.
Ответитьwell i just got a nice desk! A Ikeal Galant from 1999 =)
Its nice and big like my LG C2 42" TV on it.
I can put my plants on the right side and turn my chair there so i can Look out the window and still have a place for a book, Drawing things...
But i dont care about the standing desk thing, when i sit at work, i make a break. So all day up and at least on the desk i can relax.
What about a "Send me ur desk setup for rating?"
Its my first video here and i subbed. Like to hear more from you.
How much do you think I would regret putting my 98" solid walnut butcher block onto an Uplift frame? I know they arent designed for 98" but it seems some have had success with it.
ОтветитьAbout the G.A.S, I usually tend to sit on something I want for weeks, if not months or years just to justify I need it and then buy it. While it still ends up with me having 1 mechanical keyboard, a half keyboard, a macro pad with a knob, a pair of bookshelf speaker, headphone and IEM and 2 27" monitors, I still find myself using all of them and having one less hinders my workflow. And about the ergonomics, I bought a less comfortable but still good ergo chair as I believe that anything that separate us from the floor is worth investing in, I try to not keep any water bottle or cups near my desk as I have a water jug a few steps away from my desk, this encourages me to stand up and drink while not far enough to make me lazy and get dehydrated.
ОтветитьApko Gregorian calendar ki jagah Sanatan Calendar Vikram Samvat par aaj ma ke dekhiye... Sanatan message k liye Colonial calendar follow karke koi message nahi nikal paoge..
ОтветитьThe one essential product binder I use everyday is 2" thick and full of samples. It props up my computer monitor to the right height. When the rep. calls, I tell them, "It's really useful".
ОтветитьIt's not always about how to set up or what someone should buy to get started in a home office, it's not a dream yet it's essential to have one correctly. Daniel you mentioned things that helped me clean my thoughts, Thank you 💙
ОтветитьYou had me up until the RGB laden, gaming product drenched setup was labelled "Function" lmao. Most "gaming" products radiating RGB are actually crap compared to normal or just ergonomic counterparts. Good points all around though :)
