Andrew, these types of vids are such a nice way to connect and to share more of what goes on inside of a sample library company. BTW, nice modular. Wishing all of you a fantastic year ahead. Joyfully yours. (AI was not used to generate this comment) 😎
Ответитьawesome! Andrew it always creative, its a really inspiration for me, his music and his knowledge,, and make more video like this! cheers from brazil
ОтветитьGreat! Given that you take requests, then please make note of a nylon string guitar!
ОтветитьI'm not sure if it's the greatest idea, maybe I'd avoid it, but I'll put a brainstorm here about making a video on hearing AI slop music on Spotify 😆
ОтветитьHey Andrew, great video! I have one question though:
When writing harmonized guitars with Hydra, how do I avoid phasing? It seems to me that whenever I am running two instances of Hydra (both in separate Kontakts) which both play identical notes on the low E string but harmonized accents on all the higher strings I always get some minor phasing problems. I have tried turning repetition on and off, different guitar combinations (using different 1-4 guitars included, that is) and similar, but I never get rid of the phasing completely. What would you suggest? I think I cannot run both guitars in a single Kontakt instance and feed my instruments the exact same MIDI data, as unfortunately this will make it impossible for me to write harmonized parts
PS: Completely off topic, but I think you replied to me in the past telling me how to get rid of some of the attack in the Hydra samples, while simultaneously telling me that you personally find attack to usually lack in guitar VSTis rather than be in excess. I have to say that you were totally right: attack was not my problem. Instead, I simply made the phrasing a bit more guitarist-like (different fretting, articulations etc.) and the results were immediately better!
I use Shreddage 3 for composing away from my guitar and bass, and also for roughing out demos before wasting my time learning a guitar part lol. I've been using it since the OG Shreddage.
I HATE FOMO MARKETING, so yeah, thank you indeed. in-fact, I just took a peek and the price you're offering for the Doom bundle is actually crazy lol (in a good way).
People wanting it cheaper, I don't think many people understand the sheer amount of work it takes make a sample library like Shreddage or really any instrument library meant to do a non-MIDI instrument. Samples, samples, sampling, so many samples, so much sample editing, ALL THE SAMPLING AND EDITING. It's absolutely insane, and then you have to program the sampler itself to make it all play convincingly.
Anyway, I digress, thanks for sharing lol.
I AM now wondering how feasible it'd be to sell libraries for another ready-made sampler engine like HALion or UVI? All 3 use Lua, iirc, but I have absolutely no idea on API stuff regarding using Lua and the deeper end of that.
We want more and detailed training videos
Ответить“Don’t want to name names on who’s doing too many sales”.
Yeah I bet you’d h8 to call anyone out.
Thanks for making a video like this to share important ideas and give us a little peek behind the sample library development curtain! Your dedication to quality and fairness doesn’t go unnoticed!
ОтветитьLove the transparency shown in the vid. I prefer this conversational approach instead of a "talk to" approach from virtual instrument devs. This is why I support when I can!
ОтветитьThe problem with "better than Kontakt" is that it depends on the audience you're talking to. I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone that owns and uses Falcon / UVI Workstation that thinks its sampler isn't better than Kontakt in 100% of cases as a user, but it may not provide a feature set that would make it a more attractive or even usable option for sample library makers.
I would love to hear at some point what the gaps are in the LUA scripting engine that it offers that would prevent some of the more simple IS libraries to be ported over. I'm a Komplete CE user, and I STILL refuse to install Kontakt if I can get away with it.
ISW vst are the best instruments I could used. It is a real pleasure to play a guitar in such an easy way as these instruments allow.
I think there would only be one generic type of instrument missing that could be feasible since all guitars are the same: a strum designer using any other guitar, and fully customizable via a midi file.
ALERT ALERT... Major background upgrade!
ОтветитьI love the idea of the loyalty discounts. It's a great way to keep people coming back. (plus you guys make really cool stuff anyway)
ОтветитьThanks for this video, very informative and helpful. I'm a user and big fan of Shreddage 3 Hydra and Abyss, have used these virtual instruments to produce a full album and believe me this stuff sounds as good as if not better than a real guitarist/bass player. Currently using it as way of writing demos for my live band. Really effective and powerful software all round. I have to commend you guys as the Shreddage series alone is phenomenonal. Keep up the great work.
ОтветитьComment Regarding Virtual vs. Real Playing: Having been playing guitar, bass & keyboard for over 30 years, in and out of cover bands for 20 of them, and dabbling in MIDI sequencing for about the same, I had written & recorded exactly ONE original song along the way. After discovering ISW along with realistic-sounding drum sample libraries, I have composed over 55 original songs over the last five years (and almost all of them have several instances of Shreddage). Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but don't call something "crap" or "garbage" just because it doesn't suite your needs (or perhaps due to your own insecurities as a live player?). And why doesn't anyone ever mention how beautifully these products work with people with disabilities? The good news: They aren't going away and will only keep getting better!
ОтветитьLolled at the AI slop bit at the end. Thank you guys for making awesome things, looking forward to Tokyo Scoring Strings Solo soon maybe please thanks?! <3
ОтветитьCan you please sell some midi files of guitar parts so that it makes it easier for us to learn the instruments. I love the midi files from your masterclass videos.
ОтветитьShreddage 3 telos free in any way would be beautiful 🙏🙏
ОтветитьAwesome video! We need more videos about VST market economy, very interesting topic. Thanks!
ОтветитьI love these videos! I want to say that your series of tutorials is great. Honestly, I bought shreddage 2 so long ago and didn't use it because I couldn't understand it. When shreddage 3 hydra popped up on sale, I watched your tutorials and now I use shreddage 3 products all the time. Your customer support is also fantastic!
The full song tutorial is a rough one. I have 6 or 7 full songs written, and I'll upload playthroughs, midi files or mini tutorials. It's incredibly taxing to speak to the process and edit that video after you've spent months writing and recording a track. I've found that the biggest request is people want to see you write from start to finish and explain the process as you go. That might make for a better livestream. Personally, I scrap more than I keep. So, it's tough to dedicate hours to writing and recording a voice over to just end up scrapping it.
I also have my own way of using the products that might not entirely be using as intended. So, I'd also love to see more full song walk through tutorials from the masters of the products.
Another interesting thing might be taking customer's midi and giving them feedback on how to improve what they wrote. I'd love to do it myself but I don't exactly have the reach or the high level knowledge.
First of all, thanks fot these videos, it shows dedication to the community, and transparency is always appreciated. One thing I´ll suggest, as a proud owner of Bravura Scoring Brass, is a "Scoring Woodwinds" Library. It´s the only section that´s really missing (since we have TSS, and Rhapsody). Thanks !!
