Operational ground troop’s mobility refers to the ability to swiftly allocate and relocate forces within a theater of crisis or war. The challenge it poses is more on a regional than a continental scale. One factor relevant to operational mobility is the "rolling resistance" of a vehicle traveling on ordinary roads. On roads the rolling resistance of tracked vehicles equals four percent of their weight, on average, while that of their wheeled counterparts equals only 2 percent of their weight. Consequently, wheeled vehicles need less fuel and can cover longer distances by road before they need to be refueled.
There are at least two reasons that forces equipped with wheeled armor are more likely to deploy operationally in a timely fashion:
- First, there are fewer and shorter refueling stops. (The average road range of wheeled vehicles exceeds that of their tracked counterparts by 50 - 100 percent.)
- Second, the average marching speed of wheeled vehicles is, on roads, also 50 - 100 percent higher than that of tracked vehicles. Wheeled armored vehicles can cover longer distances faster than tracked vehicles. There is much less fatigue for their occupants because the wheeled platforms do not suffer the vibrations generated by tracks.
IN CONCLUSION:
A. If a ground force is to optimally execute a broad spectrum of activities, while also achieving a relatively high degree of strategic and operational mobility, then it should have a full-spectrum all-wheeled armored ground force to be realized in the time-frame imagined, ie. 15 years.
It includes armored fight amphibious vehicles, as well.
B. Unmanned ground armored vehicles (UGAV) have great potential for recognition, remote monitoring and control for all types of infantry and naval operations. UGAV playing an important role in support of Marine Corps combat; they can also assist in logistics operations ashore and afloat. The full development and deployment of UGAV’s capable of operating in a wide variety of situations require solving a number of difficult technical challenges. A main problem is low to zero level of built protection of their wheels in comparison with armored body of vehicles.
C. Infantry fighting wheeled vehicles (IFWV) can travel great distances on their own without needing to be transported by flat-bed trucks and railway, as required by tracked vehicles. But IFWV are equipped with easy bullets destroyed 4, 6 and more inflatable tires / wheels. It was a main reason to invent and develop our armor protected inflatable hybrid wheels. We have invented armored wheels for all types of wheeled vehicles as shown at next pages. Infantry IFWV have same problem as above described for UGAV. In addition, not protected inflatable tires significantly increases risk for IFWV’s crew.
In actual practice most armies recognize the overall advantages of wheeled vehicles. It is mean huge market and after market potential for both brand new military vehicles and retrofit of existing wheeled models with newly patented hybrid armored wheels. Thanks to newly developed armored wheels is possible to develop number of radical new fight armored vehicles to replace existing light to medium tracked military vehicles.
