I agree. At 16, its his choice. If he fails and then wants to go to college or otherwise needs his GED, then he will have to figure that out on his own.

Ok tell him to go to school I know a lot of it is bullshit This will help with the world at large I hated School but I was a rock star in grammar school I went to catholic school so the church was attached to it so I was given a job to help out so I became the head sacristan so that gave me standing in the church and community I helped run the bingo game Kitchen So I got paid I made money for my family at School I was an ok student I had long hair everyone wanted me to cut it i didn’t The The principal was the Irish Christian run she loved me so I could do know wrong I ran the elevator They try send me there I never went and they asked what she said she told me to say 10 hail Marys and tell the teacher I was sorry Your lucky I did half of that So the Church gave me money and escape what was going on in my home I had one teacher Sister Aquinas she got me I would have to open the church at 7am I was a little late I think they knew I was out drinking with friends I felt gods not going anywhere so he be there still when I put the keys in the door I had a priest tell me do you think the world revolves around you I said no sir but if you think so I will try change that So I hated high school after the car accident that broke the bottom half of me So high school was more bull shit in my life I didn’t need I missed half of my freshman year because accident and then it closed because the brothers couldn’t keep in there pants etc My mom when we where younger lots of school we got older not so much that’s the 2 that came after me got a cap and gown My mom believed mental health days before they where a thing she would take us to the movies out to lunch museums Grades don’t get stuck on that ask him what he like to do for the parts of his life that your not going mommy fix me 🙌😍👑⭐️❤️

Letting him fail is a great motivator and teacher.
