i need help with poses cuz when i draw poses the character looks stiff and the face never matches the body that i draw or the head shape doesn’t match the body. or the neck doesn’t look right with everything else, and everything i draw ( the face,hair,body,facial expressions) everything looks stiff i hate it

Personally I think Ethan's method for shading is easier, maybe because I study animation.

But it sucks because I honestly prefer yours and want to illustrate like that, and I find it very difficult.

You've done a pretty good job! Your paintings I like best are the ones with a strong facial expression and this one does too! I really like your light shapes also they are very descriptive. You couldn't help but put some soft pink hahaha but I saw the many times when you picked up a soft brush and immediately switched for a hard edged one. I would say you have succesfully resisted the call of softness and render. 👍

It even gonna lie, doing an Ethan Becker study helped me sooooo much. I’ve always really loved and wanted that imperfect sketchy angular style and I just couldn’t achieve it alone. I kept overdoing it. I stared with traditional, in my sketchbook and then moved to digital which I’ve bee. Having a huge issue getting used to and still am. But it helped make it easier as I embraced the imperfections and they became features. If you tend to be a perfectionist or over airbrush and over blend or over work your canvas, try an Ethan study.
