The Captain purposely crash landed the Aurora on the Crater. How he knew it was there we don't know. Perhaps he used the Aurora's scanner to scan the planet for planetary landmasses or shallow areas, and the Crater happend to be close enough.

No, I don't like that, almost no game gives me the feeling subnautica does.

Now i got an idea why not make a subnautica titanic mod where you have to escape the sinking aurora

The captain purposely landed on the crater because it would’ve have alttera a way to salvage it and to give survivors a chance to life (his death was in vain)

the aurora didnt barely land in the crater it actually was steered by the captain into the crater the captain died in the process his sacrifice was what got the entire story of subnautica going his sacrifice was very much needed

We need more of these you should do another modded playthrough with multiplayer with ICY, Drae and Skilly I've seen other people have 4 people playing Subnautica with mods IGP.

Aurora is scary for me. Not because there are reapers, because it's big. It's MASSIVE. And it's a spaceship. That's why I'm scared of it. I don't have megalophobia, but Aurora is scary.

There probably were a couple lifepods that ended up in the Dead Zone that sunk too deep for us to find

I always thought the Aurora went down in the crater because the captain brought it down there.. he didn't get in a lifepod because he had to guide the ship to the crater..

It would be cool in the real game if when the aurora explodes it causes a cave in and it collapses into a deeper new area to explore

The reason the aurora landed in the Crater is because the captain stayed behind to lead it there. It was also close to the Crater because it was searching for the Degasi

If I recall in the lore, the void takes up most of the map so we were pretty lucky that we crash landed where we did

When I started the game, I thought the kelp forest was scary and I would avoid it... Well well well, I am now constructing the Neptune rocket and let me tell you, the kelp forest is a walk in the park compared to the back of the Aurora or the Dead Zone. I mean, my friend said "go to the engines of the Aurora there is good loot" and I listened, but when I went to the back of the Aurora for cyclops fragments I heard a fucking roar and looked back and saw a reaper. Anyway, I got my fragments, somehow scanned the thing, and fucked off out of there

I mean, rather than using gravity lensing to curve the shot, I'd buy into the idea that there's multiple areas on the planet with the gun, and that it has that range for redundancy purposes. You don't just have one gun for an entire planet. What if it conks out? the disease could spread, then.

What’s actually hard to believe is that there’s hardly any landmass around what I presume is the Pacific (main game) portion of the planet. It’s an inactive underwater volcanic crater (I mean, I assume by the ILZ, at least), so, surely there’d be more islands, right?

Well the aurora would explode meaning it would probably kill the ghosts aldo they would respawn but in my opinion they should stay dead and instead reapers should go there because of the noise

Well landing on that emerged area might not be that lucky after all. I mean, you're in a terraforming ship. Meaning that the planet was probably studied before hand. With its landforms know quite well. So maybe that volcano is just your initial destination, which explains why youcrashed near it.
