I realized I clicked on this video simply because the title was self awareness and I wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing any blind spots in being self aware which means that I’m self aware

The words Ignorant, cognitive dissonance, and ignorance come to mind.

There's a concept in social psychology called deindividuation. It refers to the loss of self awareness especially when you're part of a group that promotes conforming to their norms, and it can lead to people behaving in ways they never would consider individually, and often increased disregard for how they would be individually evaluated. When people identify themselves as part of a group or even as anonymous, you tend to lose your self-awareness and become more of a social robot than an individual with values.

Many if not most operate from a place of ego. When ego is in charge self awareness is impossible.

I never thought I'd say this but wtf Jocko? This whole dialogue is like listening to someone who doesn't live in a capitalist society. The intention is to SURVIVE. You kind of need money and usually a job to ensure your own survival.

"Your intentions aren't pure." What and you think all these CEO's have pure intentions? They want to get rich no matter who they have to crush in the process. And you expect the people being crushed to put their own survival second to "pure intentions"? Your role at work is to help craft your CEO's personal lottery ticket. That's it.

The most important skill a worker can have is their acting ability, to be able to act like they give a flying fuck about "accomplishing the mission", i.e., making the CEO rich(er). Jocko has spent way too much time on the executive side of the table.

Like for example procrastination oh well you might be procrastinating because you are afraid of failing and then your brain just doesn’t wanna do a task since you don’t want to fail again.
