Clean the drive chain and apply your lube of choice. Bike register straight away 👍
ОтветитьThe first thing I do to a new (or used) bike as soon as get it into the house, even before I prep it for a shakedown ride: I swap out the crankset for a 165mm one. Only after I've done this that I start addressing fitment, proper brake adjustment, shifting, etc.
ОтветитьWho would've known to check tire pressure when getting a new bike. Luckily I have a pump.
ОтветитьPut SRAM Maven brakes on a road bike. 😭
Ответитьfunny that you showed how to use the chain checker incorrectly
Ответитьwhat about hookless rims if your someone that doesn't you might pump to tyre max and not the 70psi max of rim, result loud bang n having to change pants
ОтветитьPSA tightening with a torque wrench isn’t idempotent. Don’t try to continually check torque, loosen and re-torque. [edit: probably ok with beam-style wrench]
ОтветитьRide it.
ОтветитьGrease the seat tube post if aluminum or use carbon fiber paste for carbon seat posts. Torque seat post clamp. Nothing worse than trying to unseize a seat post.
ОтветитьAh. Most tires only have the maximum pressure which I usually way high.
ОтветитьFirst thing to do on a new bike: remove the dork disc.
Ответитьcan you guys test the csc wheels from their website with the novotec hubs heard they are super well made for the money
ОтветитьIf the bike is used definitely check all bearings for proper greasing.
ОтветитьDid you just recommend pumping to max psi? That will not make someone enjoy their new bike lol
ОтветитьI never have used a torque wrench since i worked on my bikes….and that is more than 40 years ago…
Ответитьclean and wax it with a car wax- preferably the modern spray ceramic wax to make it look shiiiinnnnyyyyy and brand new.
ОтветитьAdmire it. Worry about it getting dirty. Ride it. Get it dirty. Worry less.
Ответить6. Bed-in your breaks (if using disc breaks)
ОтветитьIs this a video for the first time bike owner?
ОтветитьYou make a big deal about proper torque but don't bother pointing out there's more to it than just putting a wrench set to X and trying to turn the bolt/screw. It could be way over-torqued and you'll never know. I'm amazed at the half-baked or simply wrong information spewed by zootube "experts". I hope they have good lawyers!
ОтветитьWe’re going to see loads of newbies pumping their tyres to max pressure now 😂
ОтветитьIf you have to fit pedals to your new bike, remember that one side has a left hand thread and the other has a right hand thread. Can't remember which side has which but if your pedal won't screw in even though you are turning the axle, then turn it in the opposite direction.
ОтветитьDon't trust your floor pump pressure gauge, get a digital one they're pretty cheap.
ОтветитьHelitape chain stays, crank arms, down tube…
ОтветитьGet rid of the factory finish and start a custom job.🤓
ОтветитьAdd bottle cages, seat bag, and any other things you use.
Ответитьhand pumps with pressure gauges are a bit naff
you can get cheap but perfectly ok torque hex key dohdats for your smaller bolts
No need to waste money on a torque wrench. Just tighten the bolt until it feels spongy, then back it off a flat. (I’m an aircraft engineer, so I know stuff.)
Ответитьhide it from the wife
ОтветитьGood luck pumping up a tyre up to 100psi on a Zipp 303 💥🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьTire pressure to the max is a stupid advice, you have lower rolling resistance (vibrational losses) at power pressure , more grip and a more comfortable ride at power pressures. Ask silka and get the right pressure
ОтветитьLeave it standing around in your living room unassembled for a week, then assemble it and align the brakes and leave it standing around for another week, then slowly order a bunch of parts and attach them over the course of another several weeks. Might be going quicker if it was Spring or Summer already, but it's still Winter so I'm fine.
ОтветитьFrancis: Do you have a brand new bike?
Me: Nope 😢
Francis: Congratulations! 🎉
Can I just say, I cannot figure out how to fit an Allen key to adjust the sram axs lever reach lmao
ОтветитьGet it insured, especially if it costs a bit of money..
ОтветитьFor bicycles with straight bars, rotating the brake and gear levers to a comfortable position is worth doing early on. Every bicycle I've bought online has had the levers at an angle guaranteed to cause wrist pain.
ОтветитьTake a photo of it in pristine condition. It will never look like that again.
ОтветитьFirst thing is to register it on the BikeRegester and Immobilise
ОтветитьIf you buy a bike from a bike shop and they don’t go through this with you… 🤨
Ответитьnah, just ride it as it comes out of the box [as everyone without a brain cell does]
ОтветитьMost of this advice pointless, if it's you already own bike once.
ОтветитьBefore you ride every single day if you even own a bicycle the first thing you should do is check your tire pressure
ОтветитьStick protective film on the bottom tube and under the cables on the head tube
ОтветитьJimmi really is putting his all in to his role this time.....the way he goes from showing the sheer joy of " man pumping up new tyres " to displaying the fraught danger of over torqued 5Nm bolts exploding is just masterful. I can only think he's been attending drama classes to give his public the performance they deserve.
ОтветитьPeople still use floor pumps? Lol
Get an electric pump, work smarter, not harder 🥲
Chain checker (CC-4) is being used incorrectly.
