A true treasure of Americana...like Jim Croce....gone too soon. This guy played acoustic guitar like John Hammond...just pure abandon and confidence...that rich voice, those great lyrics...City of New Orleans is an american treasure! RIP
ОтветитьWhat a great show. I have watched it over and over.
ОтветитьIt's a joy to watch him let alone listen to him. I don't think he knew just how good he was.
Ответить"Death Of A Salesman" is one of Steve Goodman's greatest achievements.
ОтветитьI love him so much!
ОтветитьMr. Steve, the world is a better place for having known ya.😎
ОтветитьNothinsg lasts forever, even Steve Goodman. Problem is he went too soon. I'm grateful for the prodigious amount he left behind. We all love you Mr. Steve.
ОтветитьFor those who fought in, or one who loved one who fought in the war is never over. 🤕😩😰
ОтветитьI think it was 1979 when I saw Steve for the first and sadly only time at the Paramount Theater in Portland OR. He opened for The Amazing Rhythm Aces with a 7 piece band, steel drums, back up singers. The most memorable part though was when everyone cleared the stage, Steve sat down on the front of the stage with his guitar and proceeded to tell stories and sing songs. Over 40 years ago and I'll never forget it.
ОтветитьAs a touring Songwriter I have been a Steve Goodman Fan since the mid 70's
ОтветитьI Love Steve Goodman
ОтветитьTop of his game right there
Ответитьyep great man and incredible entertainer
ОтветитьPeople say don't live the past. My present sucks, so sometimes the past was way better. I went through the nightmare mistake this country made by engaging in Vietnam. The current accepted wisdom of normal folk is we f***ed up. Domino effect in southeast asia were a seed sown by "commie" hawks. Would have been interesting if JFK weren't assassinated. His own secretary of state finally said his mea culpas before he died. It's all bull turds.
ОтветитьHeroes are sometimes found in the oddest of places. 👣🕶👟
ОтветитьYou cant get door number 3 on itunes
ОтветитьWhat a Soul full of Joy.. a man who laughs while singing and dancing with his guitar ♥️ Sooo much fun.. what a blessing… xoxox .. Fly High Sweet Soul ♥️🧡💙🤎🖤✨💖🤍🕊
ОтветитьI've recently discovered Steve Goodman. Great musicianship, and his singing reminds me of Phil Ochs!
ОтветитьA clinic on destroying an audience with one voice and one guitar. Cat Stevens might have been about as good, but nobody was better. We're all the poorer for Steve not getting old with us, but we can remember.
ОтветитьIs there a better anti-war song than Penny Evans?
The answer is no.
Incomparable.
ОтветитьPlayed My Old Man at my dads funeral. RIP Steve and Daddy
ОтветитьWhy is this concert not on dvd I would love to have a copy❤
ОтветитьSaw him twice in Iowa City in mid 70s. Best solo acoustic ever. This guy was a once in a lifetime thing. It doesn't really show on the albums because they aren't mixed well but he just had all of the charisma in the world. Was just starting to learn the guitar hand he made me want to quit.
ОтветитьAmazing thank you for sharing my friend. Heaven's got a heck of a band. 🕊️🕊️🕊️
ОтветитьI saw him on that tour when he swung through Canada - thanks for this memory!!!
ОтветитьI’ve never listen to you John I know a lot of musicians that love you and now I do! Play for me!
ОтветитьI still miss him.
ОтветитьWhat a shame he had to die so early he would’ve been fantastic. Just think of a song he would have wrote what a Amazing talent. And today he could’ve very well been cured from that awful disease.
ОтветитьI was 5 years old when Steve did this concert. Just a man and his guitar and stupid amounts of talent. Sometimes I miss that age. We seem to have lost something in this country, a certain grace that Steve definitely had in abundance. I hope he is resting in peace, singing his songs to the others who are resting in the great beyond.
ОтветитьI enjoy and appreciate his fabulous singing more each time I hear it.
I'm so grateful that this was posted. Thank you !!
Saw Steve at Symphony Hall in Boston in 74 then again in Greeley Colorado in 76 (where opened for Steve Martin) then a few more times in the 80s. He, John prine, and Tom rush are the reason I became a folkie in the 70s. You could hear a pin drop when performed.
ОтветитьHaven't recently (past 5yrs)thru David Allen Coe been introduced ... Goodman Is God...Mr Bacarack and David, Keith,Mick...John Paul... Songwriting School and performance by Mr S Goodmn
ОтветитьKALBOY THREAD BOUNDS AMERICAN FLAG 🎉❤
ОтветитьI met Steve when he played at the Earl of Oldtown in Chicago. He always was kind, humble, and incredibly talented
ОтветитьBloody Amazing 😮!!!!!!
ОтветитьI’m so thankful I was able to see Steve Goodman and John Prine at The Golden Bear in Huntington Beach in 1979 or 80. ❤️❤️
ОтветитьOh Stevie baby where did you go?
Ответитьwhat i most remember about all steves gigs on west bleecker where he was welcome his whole life was the bouncing.he really seemed to have better news than all of us could imagine. even at 4 am on a tuesday. gotta love that
ОтветитьRobert Johnson and Steven Goodman are friends and associates we should al cultivate in our hours. How can a voice and one instrument make that much stir?
Ответитьdear steve jumping over the rain
Ответитьoh i will not stop praising this guy till another stands in (phillip phillips?)
Ответитьi stood on the sidewalk outside of a bar that also hosted stand up or small music groups c. 1983 my busking friends Robby Halperin and Suzanne while we were sharing a joint (bought for $1 in Tompkins Park earlier) and Andy Kaufman and another guy got in a quarrel just outside the door about something like cert.. Both men dead in the next 5 years from similar sickness. Steve and Andy were above their peers no excuse.
ОтветитьThis takes me back to the early seventies coffee shops where it seemed you could always count on some musician with a guitar to pass away an evening. A lot of the places didn't serve alcohol so you had to bring your flask and be discreet. We knew we weren't fooling anyone but we tipped well and just hung out. Hard to find those places these days.
ОтветитьBest Performance Ever! "I Owe my Soul to the Company Store" Such Joy when performing! Steve Was is his Zone! So glad I can experience this.. I'm only 38-but I feel connected to this kind of music and Art.. Such a Treasure! R.I.P- Forever! Never Forgotten Still being experienced by this generation.. "Mother, Prison, Trains, Trucks, and Farms"- Simply Brilliant!-
ОтветитьNicest person. Came home with us and taught me " The City of New Orleans". Miss him always . The last time was Kodiak Ak.
ОтветитьSaw SG at a women's college in Denver in 1974.
ОтветитьOK algorithm, give the whole thing. I used to sing Spirit of St. Louis (I moved a lot as a kid) in the shower when I was married (we're divorced now), but now I want to hear the whole catalog!
ОтветитьSo good. I can only hope to write and play like that. Trying😂
