I grew up in Manhattan (now live in nj). This is one of the most surprising & mind blowing videos I’ve ever seen. I was like Brooklyn?? As in New York? Looks like Montauk!! Is there any foul smells though? I was so pleasantly surprised at the clean sandy camp ground too!!!
ОтветитьI wonder if an overweight, out of shape person, such as myself, could learn to do that?
ОтветитьIf it were't for your videos I wouldn't have known that NY has so much nature to offer; and creeks, small rivers to kayak in. And yes PU trash, leave nothing behind except memories...leave it beautiful.
ОтветитьI never heard of Mau Mau Island. I don't paddle in the city much unless someone is planning a paddle there and it sounds interesting and fun. I was surprised to see a well set up campground on the island with flags flying. I'm surprised no one was there.
I've camped and paddled at several locations on Long Island, usually county and state parks. It's a good time, albeit not as remote as Mau Mau Island. There is often showers there and sometimes a snack bar or food nearby. Maybe not as exploratory or interesting, but some comforts are OK with me.
Thanks for another amazing enjoyable video.
ОтветитьThanks
Add some parking spots , at Mau Mau island , please
this is so funny.. i watched a video about someone camping on the small island in the east river, and today i was driving past mau mau island (im from bergen beach which is only about a mile away) and i thought to myself i wonder if anyone has ever camped on this island. sure enough today i found this video lol. cool stuff
ОтветитьGreat content as always Matt. Amazing the places you can find in the NYC zip that appear like they belong at some beach.
ОтветитьAnother great video!
ОтветитьGreat video, I grew up in Flatlands and never even knew Marine Park had a marine boat area. Great video/channel.
ОтветитьThat's remarkable, considering the population density.
ОтветитьHow do you like the ORU..
How long have you had it ???
10K 🔥
ОтветитьAnother great video!!
Ответитьawesome paddle as usual. so cool you get so remote so close to the City, you can't even tell it is out there.... thanks for taking us with you
ОтветитьGrew up in Gerritsen Beach. Sat with my 97 and 98 year old parents and thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thanks for posting this!
ОтветитьYou're marshing my mellow.
ОтветитьWhat!? There's even a gas barbeque there haha
ОтветитьWow! I never even knew this place existed. Thank you sharing, this looked like a cool adventure.
ОтветитьDude, you really find hidden gems in the NYC area. You’re a bit brave camping out in the middle of Brooklyn, even though it’s an island. 😬Good job on leaving the place better than you found it. I try to do that when I remember, but you’ve inspired me to do more iften. 🙌🏼🙌🏼
ОтветитьDefinitely checking this out now! Hope to see ya out there one day dude!
Ответитьlived here my whole life never knew this existed or looked this amazing
ОтветитьWhat's next? Passaic River or Rockaway River maybe?
ОтветитьAwesome channel. This is what the city looked like before a man inhabited it
ОтветитьI only wish I would have had a kayak back when I lived a couple blocks away from this area, I would have had a blast. Spent many a summer day on Mau Mau, we would swim there or boat, it's funny you called it that, I think there is an official name for it that isn't Mau Mau. Now thinking I want to do from the Tamaqua to Mau Mau and back on a day trip. Wow, childhood memories are coming back. Is the golf course still there?
ОтветитьStill can't believe that this was in Brooklyn!! Again seclusion and privacy in the middle of millions of people. As usual a very entertaining video!
Ответитьnyc wildlife be acting life new yorkers. those cormorants run that block
ОтветитьDon’t get that water in your mouth , bruh.
ОтветитьI grew up in Gerritsen Beach and this was our back yard. Crabbing, fishing for blues and snappers, hanging out on Mau Mau and the point. It was a wonderful, unique and crazy neighborhood. A lot has changed in GB, some good some bad. The memories we have of the old days with remain. Beach rats, all of us.
ОтветитьThanks for the video! Heading there with two friends this coming wknd.
ОтветитьThat's as clean and nice campsite as I've ever seem!
ОтветитьHold the button under a black light.
It might be uranium glass.
Nice glass bottle stopper!
ОтветитьThose double pilings were probably for landing lights when Floyd Bennet field was operating.
ОтветитьHere’s a potential paddle spot.
In Great Neck / Kings Point
Stepping Stone reef park.
Has a boat ramp and beach.
You can paddle out to the Stepping Stones reef lighthouse by paddling over the reef.
There are a few huge boulders awash at low tide, easily seen.
Boat traffic in LI sound may be a pain, but sweet area when it’s calm
And if you paddle the reef itself there will be no boats even close to you.
They are called Canadian geese.
Ответить❤Thanks for deciding to keep everything on one channel. It seems so much nicer when creators do that and just create playlists for the different types of content. 2nd channels always disappear below the fold for me.
ОтветитьBeautiful area!
So Quite!
Matt love watching your videos! Check out Shooters Island between Staten Island between the north Shore of Staten Island and Elizabeth Port, NJ.
A few friends and I are going to do a guided white water rafting trip in West Virginia on Oct 5th on the Upper Gauley River and we'd like to invite you to join us.
I always get excited every time you post! Your videos are informative, definitely some gems here in NYC. You mind sharing what type of cameras you use?
ОтветитьThat's the most un-sketchy water you've been in, and in Brooklyn! 😄
ОтветитьGreat Video, Hopefully you make your way back to Pelham Bay Park when i am rowing in the Lagoon by the launch! Also love to follow along on Maps!
ОтветитьWhat’s a wonderful place, you are living in your dream!❤❤❤❤❤ great videos!
ОтветитьI can help you out with 3d tracked graphics in your videos if you'd like a hand with that. Let me know.
ОтветитьGoogle Maps as he makes the comment of following along!
ОтветитьUgh dude I might have to try this before Summer ends...
Ответитьvideo was amazing, I never knew there was such a nice island around marine park. How did you sleep? You really capture nature, and just overall peace in your videos. Keep up the amazing work and share your product reviews with us lol. :) I think out of all the videos this was one of my favorite, it has a sense of peace and nature you do not find around NY any more.
