What's a prefix folder?

Dude thank you so much I had been modding other Bethesda games using the steam tinker launcher method that every other guide recommends, but didn't know where to begin if the game wasn't acquired from steam. I managed to figure out how to add Skyrim to lutris on my own, but a quick guide might help others since the whole wine prefix stuff kind of confused me at first. Now I just have to get used to MO2 coming from using Vortex for so long.

How does the prefix folder work ?
How can I find it or move it to my micro SD card?
Sorry I'm very inexperienced with this.

How do I get it to launch on gaming mode tho
