Great work!
Ответить" Oh as I live and breathe, its Yuooo "
ОтветитьYou should turn the rocket into a grill!
Ответитьdid you consider ceramic enamel appliance paint spraycans?
ОтветитьYou all need a 50s car there.
ОтветитьWow! a lot has been done. You and your dad are very clever. It is going to look amazing!
ОтветитьHi, absolutely love what you’re doing here, immediately subscribed after seeing the work you’re doing here!
Some things for painting the outside of the house: Definitely look for Mad Dog DuraPrimer. This is quality stuff we used when restoring our old garage from the 1940’s, and the paint is still holding up like new 15 Chicago winters later. Not a product placement, genuinely first class stuff.
For painting, look for a color matched paint, and an enamel automotive clear coat. The clear coat will give you close to the protection and shine the original panels had, although you may have to wax the home from time to time to keep everything fully protected for the decades to come!
Overall, I absolutely love what you and your father are doing here, especially your idea of restoration over renovation. Bringing something historic back to what it was, rather than changing or modernizing it.
I also chuckled a bit at your equally extreme high attention to detail, taking part of the video to express minor frustration in the front door’s glass being 90 degrees off. I admit it was a bit irked about that as well, but agree it’s still better not having the original privacy glass texture!
Loved seeing you bring back the original windows as well. Modern vinyl windows look so tacky and wrong on older homes. Glad to see somebody else appreciating the beauty of the original windows of the time. I’m so happy my parent’s turn of the century home still boasts its original oak double-hungs, and wouldn’t trade them for the world.
In a couple years after I finish college, I want to do the same thing you’re doing here with your Victorian home. Buy something forgotten, and completely restore it myself (and a little help from my equally historic architecture-loving folks), down to the smallest little details like light switches and hardware. Seeing your videos does nothing but make me even more ambitious to pull something off like this, and makes me so happy to see other people wanting to do this kind of work.
If you’ve read this far, thank you, and also best wishes on both of your project homes from Quin & family in Beverly, Chicago!
This is so cool, I'm obsessed! How do we find your other properties on air bnb?
ОтветитьI just saw you on news 4 -how so very exciting!!
Ответитьsomething similiar to Sanctuary Hills of 2077.
21 decades later it is quite ill suited the post nuclear apoc wasteland settlements. by then, 18th Century Blockhouses are better built there.
i've tried building ones in Sanc hills in game. not easy though since some 'repairable' housings literally blocked settlement wall buildings.
Wondering what the neighbors think of pink hippo visuals every single day.
ОтветитьLove LOVE that ur dad is collecting same year magazines to set out when this amazing air bnb is up and running. Over the top and above and beyond! ❤
ОтветитьWhy did you not use a automotive paint on the metal, as opposed to regular house paint. And automotive paint either one stage or three stage four of giving you lifetime clean ability.
ОтветитьI called my dad "dad".
ОтветитьWhere is your Mr Handy?
ОтветитьIve got a great pro tip for you when it comes to the vintage Westinghouse tv you showed. Send it to Bob Andersen in Chicago for a complete electronic restoration. He’s got a great channel here at bobandersentv
Anything less than that is like running a 1955 T-Bird on its original oil and sparks. The tv will fail dramatically and it’s transformer will be damaged by out of tolerance caps and resistors if you don’t have the guts restored.
And that’s be a shame because it would be an awesome tv for your amazing house. Can’t wait to see it all come together!
Oh no. I miss the front yard tree. Needs more bushes too.😊
ОтветитьLot of work!
ОтветитьI Love The Pink Hippo
ОтветитьNice job Guys
ОтветитьThat exhaust fan in the kitchen is absolute, pure awesomeness.
ОтветитьYou guys should try to find a working Philco Predicta TV for the house, they were made in the 1950s and were the inspiration for the Radiation King TVs in fallout. They’re also seen in the fallout 4 houses that were inspired by Lustron homes.
ОтветитьMama Murphy and Sturgis can work on it or at lease taking it apart.
ОтветитьWill there be tours of the completed project? I'm psyched to see it! Also, I collect midcentury decor and furniture if we could contribute at all.
ОтветитьIt sucks that people immediately talk of fallout when these houses or retro things in general are talked about, they cant just stand on their own.
ОтветитьI can't wait for some trash can TikTok "influencer" to try and buy this house and then "modernize" its aesthetic. /s
Ответитьgetting a good wifi signal in there must be pretty hard
ОтветитьI love everything and appreciate all the work going into it. How do you address the gaps below the walls, between the rooms though? Would leaving them there make sound carry? Genuinely interested if there would be a noticeable difference.
ОтветитьLove the pink hippo!!!
ОтветитьBruh take the brackets from the girls room and make a model of it using the same proportions and 3d print a replacement
Ответить😊 Im watching during the SUMMER. My home is cool and comfy, but I'm wondering about central cooling & heating and insulation etc... 😊 enjoying your video this morning. Thank You for this video. I didnt know anything about this kind of home.
ОтветитьWhat about adding a Car port . Mid Century or Jetsons
ОтветитьI do wish I could afford to own one of these lustron homes.
ОтветитьI have NEVER heard of a Fallout Lustron house but I’m totally stoked to see the completion of this house!!! Thank you to the Reddit poster that shared this wonder!!
ОтветитьY’all need to get a philco predicta for it to be real fallout
ОтветитьThey have porcelain enamel paint don’t they? It would probably cost a fortune, but it’s sold as a tub refinishing kit.
ОтветитьIt would be fun to go back in time in the restored house. I also love that you repaired with filler like a car. I wonder if that is easier or more difficult than plaster repair.
ОтветитьIt's amazing! Your aesthetic taste of the era, attention to details and fearless! because it's a lot of work to do! and you do it great!
ОтветитьI stopped by last week with my daughter and my niece's. John and his Dad were working on the house. They were kind enought to let us do a tour. I can guarantee when this house becomes a air b& b it will be so spectacular. I was impressed and they are not finished yet! Thanks for letting us look around the girls were impressed and want reservations
ОтветитьDad is the coolest G.O.A T.
ОтветитьWhat an amazing home. The TV is amazing, too.
ОтветитьAmazing job ! I cannot wait to see the finale. It seems everything has been very well thought out!
ОтветитьI love that the Fallout game copied the Lustrom layout. As you traversed inside, I knew exactly where you were going and the features. “Turn left into the bathroom”. I laughed.
Ответитьtheres a tv like that on the pittsburgh FBMP. love it, reminds me of mine that i restored in my 50s home
Ответитьthat sort of glass is called "fluted glass" if that helps your resto
ОтветитьIs everything ok?? It's been 3 months. Did ya forget about us FB fans???
ОтветитьI would turn the laundry room onto an extra bedroom.
ОтветитьOrganic paint is the best.
ОтветитьWe have one In Nc, I’ve been eyeing it for so long but I don’t think the owners are gonna sell anytime soon 😭
