Rally Group B - Crazy Spectators

Been to rallies like this with my dad when I was a kid in the 90s. The truth is 99% of those races ended without any trouble. But I'd assume today regulations and people being more afraid wouldnt let this happen anymore.

"Strange that no more died under the group b era." - but they did. Several accidents that killed spectators occurred, and most famously, Toivonnen and his co-pilot died in Corsica. And that's why Group B ended. Too much horsepower, so little safety for everyone involved.

The good old days when politicians didn't actively hinder natural selection.

People say sometimes call Group B "ruleless", that is factually incorrect. There were plenty of rules... for participants.

It's amazing there weren't even more deaths tbh. Watching these clips, there could easily have been a crash that killed a dozen spectators in one go.

Everytime europeans say theyre smarter than americans I think of group b rally and how these morons think sitting right where the car would go if they entered the corner a little too fast is a good choice

Amazing how so many people can be so... "not smart".

People crying about how rally isnt what it used to be. Your right, it isnt. But it is still way too dangerous if u compare it to other motorsports. I mean wrc cars go even faster, the crowds are still next to the roads, just not on the roads. People still die when they miss the corner. Shit hasnt changed a bit. Its just a few rules that make it seem more safe when it really isnt.

Much easier to do stupid things in a gang of people doing stupid things... One thing to get hit by the car because you're standing in the road. Another is to force the car to try and avoid you, causing it to plough into spectators on the side of the road (which has happened).
