I have this exact setup and I’m here because the stand finally gave out yesterday. I bought the direct replacement DWX726 (updated) stand. It’s slightly improved over my old one. But the old one was now 15 years old! I can’t saw enough about this saw/stand combo. It’s tough as hell and easily the best saw I’ve used
ОтветитьGives u a reason to ride, gotta blow the bike off
ОтветитьNooice!
ОтветитьHave the 779, added the XPS light, which made it the 780. Then added a soft start and man, this saw is just a workhorse and can't say enough good things about this saw. There is an optional upgrade to get for dust collection from Shop Nation that is awesome as well.
ОтветитьHello Mike, cool Video. Who purchase cheep, he purchase twice. Why People should buy Crap Tools? First choose for a Tool must be in a higher Level. Iam live in Germany, iam a professional Electrician and i own a big Dewalt Fleet. DiY Friends of me has also Dewalt Stuff. And sorry for my bad English.
ОтветитьGreat vid. I'm a hobbyist and was about to pull the trigger on this. Need to replace my 12 year old 10" Craftsman miter. Definitely time. I really appreciated your inclusion of the calibration. Do you have a link to that angle detector?
ОтветитьThe 10" was better.
ОтветитьI have been using that saw for almost 10 years….. just got the new stands though…. I watched your whole vid …. And really enjoyed it….. ps… hope you get one ….. you will use it more than that Harley !!!
ОтветитьResponding to your thumbnail question “should a DIYer buy the Dewalt DS780”, I think not. This saw has a wicked kick as you squeeze the trigger and when you release it. If it’s only for DIY I would recommend a battery operated version or one with less power - it would be safer. The new Flexvolt 60 volt saw is smooth, has enough power, and has better dust collection albeit on the expensive end. A ten inch or smaller saw would do the job.
ОтветитьGreat presentation Mike. I'm in the market and this helps a lot.
Thanks!!
Fantastic review. Just found your channel. Love it
ОтветитьYour reviews are always so thorough!
I hope you review the 60V DCS781 with regen braking and compare accuracy and features with the Flex 24V miter saw.
Thanks for the video, I just ordered my first miter saw, the 780 along with the compact stand.
Ответитьgreat saw, crap stand. I had one and sold it after a day. The constant bending over and lifting is for the birds and begs for a back injury. Gravity type stand like the ridgid MS-UV is waaaaay better. Just step on a small foot release and it practically unfolds itself. of course the out rigger supports still want to sag which is an issue with all these stands so its no worse or better in that respect but for folding/unfolding nothing beats it. I would never buy this stand. I also have a bosch table saw on the bosch gravity stand and while its pretty good the ridgid is still easier to deploy.
ОтветитьThanks Mike, very clear and useful video, you are a champ! 👍
ОтветитьThis is the best, most detailed instruction manual on this saw. The video is stellar and easily relatable to the function of the actual saw. Well done and thanks.
ОтветитьThe 30 degree detent is just an arbitrary 'standard', like the 15 degree setting. In the US you guys like the 31.something setting because you do a lot of crown mouldings. I have been an all-round carperter/builder for some 40 years in Dutchland and Kiwiland and have never come across crown mouldings. On the 780, it really is nice looking and feature rich machine, but at over 25kg and the size of Dodge truck, it is not for me. Size does matter. I'm still using my DeWalt version of the old Elu PS174 with a 216mm (8.5") blade. There is very little I can't cut with that size blade.
ОтветитьAny chance you've used the Skil 10 inch sliding miter saw? I would love to see you review of that saw sometime if possible. Thanks.
ОтветитьExcellent video. Pair that baby up with a FS blade and you're hard pressed to do better.
ОтветитьReally top notch video. Concise, well explained, no annoying music. Well done.
ОтветитьThis is an informative video. No paper manual could do as good a job. Dewalt should pay you and put a link to this video in their Getting Started Guide.
ОтветитьI mainly got this saw for building a timber frame shop out of roughcut with dimensional luber, i cant wait to use it with the gigantic stand that came with it for big beams vs my old 10" kobalt with cinderblocks lol
ОтветитьA straight to the point illustration. Love it.
ОтветитьIt's better to have it,and not need it, than to need it, and not have it!!
ОтветитьAwesome video! Strait to the point and no annoying music! Due in part to this vid I just picked one up...let me know where I can send the bill ;)
ОтветитьWhat's the difference between this, or the Hercules,?besides the price being almost half the price 🤔
Ответить30 30 30 is 90 | 22.5 22.5 22.5 22.5 is 90 it's just a option to have it look different
ОтветитьLove the Seiko Samurai watch too. Ive ordered this saw. Seems sturdy saw. Great vid. 👍
ОтветитьEpic, just what I needed before I go and collect mine! Thank you! 🔥🔥
ОтветитьI just got a reconditioned DWS780R on Amazon for $475. Sad thats a deal nowadays lol.
But i figure if youre going to use a tool use the best you can find and i have many many dewalt tools that have never let me down.
I love the idea of the bevel stops for the common trim angles.
How do you like the Diablo blades?
I ise thwm in my skilsaws and my recip, and my jigsaw as well as their grinding discs.
Curious how good yours have worked for this beast haha
The 33 is supposed to be for a corner where the walls meet at less than 90 and you meet at the detail leaving the back open. I assume mostly for crown. Which is the angle you use for butting crown. I dont really know haha
ОтветитьThis is such an awesome video that covers everything
ОтветитьEven though it makes it not a sliding miter saw. i do love the leck levwr for the slider to make it just a chop saw.
ОтветитьFor the stand, its easier to open it while standing. Yes it will balance. They sell one (or the same one) for the miter saw.
Also mine has a cone for dust collection maybe they changed it lol
Sorry for so many comments but this is the forst video that went over everything lol
I did see that if youre doing crown they sell stops to allow you to cut the crown at the angle its installed (45deg) in case anyone doing crown molding project
Thanks nice job
god bless
Bought this and everything you said was true. It’s a fine saw. They updated the arbor to a torx. I’m commenting to support ya bro ✌️
ОтветитьIt looks like the 780 is not the same 780 of a few years ago, they put the cheaper gears and motor from the 779 into the 780, so the blade housing on my 780 wobbles and is loose, I sent it in twice and they did not fix it.
ОтветитьHow far back does the slider go? Other words, how far off a wall would I have to be to not have slider hit wall? Thanks
ОтветитьThe latest version of the stand doesn't come with the rollers anymore
Apparently they also took some features away from the DWS780 and 779 as well
Good video and saw. I bought the Bosch a couple years ago and it’s great. I like the scissor action on the back of it.
ОтветитьThanks! I’ve decided to go for the 780 over the 779 based on your video. Now go wash that Harley! 😄
ОтветитьExcellent review, thank you so much!
ОтветитьGreat video, but put a finish blade on that miter box. That planer combination blade belongs on a table saw, or a radial arm saw.
ОтветитьVery informative, well worth watching a 20 minute video to really get all the detail and important features that this saw actually offers. Nice job and thanks for taking the time.
ОтветитьDewalt recalled a million of these total junk saws. Great review… argh.
ОтветитьDewalt’s QC is down to zero lately.
ОтветитьOutstanding review!
ОтветитьGreat video!! Thank you!!
