Dry brush or vacuum BEFORE you do anything wet! Get as much dirt, dust, hair and skin out BEFORE you clean with any fluid! Alcohol evaporates quickly and it will leave anything left on or inside of a component brittle and loose, and it will fall and spread into areas that are not affected. Stop a problem before you have a problem.

Just bought sega 2 and not working 4k tv bought adapter for the yellow and red plug still not working any other tips you could help me with to get working

You don't clean with ipa, it is for flushing the cleaning fluid out. Ipa is good for sterilisation not cleaning

Maybe invest in an air compressor. Or at least a can of compressed air

Wow this is amazing! In my case each time I touch the video cord (Heprkin HDTV Cable ) where it connects to my Sega Genesis 2, the colors on the screen get screwed, or I get the black screen or no sound. Could that be the actual connector port on sega genesis?

I just found my mega drive 2 and original leads and controller in mums attic will it work I found out soon ??

2/3 of issues is caused by internal video encoder, just install a RGB bypass, this solve the issue

i have a q what psu and av cable did you use on mega drive and where did you get it ?
and can you get a Japanese og xbox and convert its psu from 100v to 220-240v or do you have any idea how to do it ?

i know this vid is a year old but i think putting this here is the only place to make you catch it and understand what im talking about lol.... to clean a cart slot here is the most effective method... get an old cartridge junk one pull the board out of it and use some 2 micron lapping film wrap around the cartridge pins soak in 99% iso and put in and out repeatedly .. bingo the 10000 grit of the lapping films knocks off the corrosion and does not affect the slot pins! ..

I remember opening a Mega Drive 2 a few years ago and found that there was a spider's web inside it. A spider was living in it at some point and it still worked.

I've got 2 I'm hoping to fix soon. I really hope it's the cartridge reader because I'm not hot with a soldering iron (yet).

I have a Sega model one that had a black screen. I simply cleaned it and the games themselves and it works just fine now. Clean your consoles/games people. It’s usually that simple.

I just realized that the system is called Mega Drive outside of the US.... Hearing it called Mega Drive instead of Sega Genesis feels strange to me.

I was literally yelling at my computer screen for almost a minute straight: "YOU REFLOWED TWO PINS TOGETHER" lol.

Oooh! A Mark 2 has bad audio, well ....we all know that.
Easy to knack up the video out port & the Mark 2 hasn't got the audio chip that is in the Mark 1, it's a more crappier cheaper chip, my least favorite Mega Drive is the Mark 2!😅

Firstly, great videos. Really, enjoying them. I'm mainly a ZX Spectrum builder and repairer, but recently I purchased a mega drive 2. It works OKish. My question is, is it worth recapping the mega drive after a clean of the inside. In your opinion, are there any benefits to doing this for the mega drive as there are for the ZX Spectrum?
