About a spaced repetition journal, I have a Google sheets for medicine and languages and just use conditional formatting with a custom formula: =OR($A2=TODAY(), $A2=TODAY()-1, $A2=TODAY()-3, $A2=TODAY()-7, $A2=TODAY()-14, $A2=TODAY()-30, $A2=TODAY()-90, $A2=TODAY()-180, $A2=TODAY()-360)
Where A column is where I write the date and you need to apply to the range of ALL the table like A2:F1000 to make it highlight a row and not a cell. This way it highlights the entries done today, yesterday, 3 days ago, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and a year. Then you can create a filter by color.
