Comparing Features and Specifications of Sony Xperia Z4v vs. Sony Xperia Z3+

The Sony Xperia Z4v and Sony Xperia Z3+ are two such devices launched in mid-May2015 between May and June in the Xperia Z series. They are intended for those who would like to own a high-priced handset. It is worth noting thatthe Sony Xperia Z3+ is very similar to the Sony Xperia Z4 with just a difference or two. While the length and width of the Xperia Z4v and the Xperia Z3 are more or less the same, the difference in thickness is more prominent. The Z4v sizes up at 144.4 x 72.3 x 8.7 whereas the Z3+ has a size of 146.3 x 71.9 x 6.9 mm. The Sony Xperia Z4v with its 162g weight is also bulkier than the 144g Sony Xperia Z3+. Verdict: The major differences between the two devices on the about feature are their thickness and weight. The Z3+ is thinner and lighter resulting in making it easier to keep in both your hand and pocket.

Screen Display and Pixel Resolution & Density

There are similarities here also. Each Xperia Z handset has a 5.2-inch screen with IPS LCD technology. Additionally, the Sony Xperia Z4v features a Quad HD TRILUMINOUS display and is the first device from Sony to incorporate the Quad HD concept. The main area of difference is in their pixel resolutions and pixel densities. The Xperia Z4v has a pixel resolution of 1440 x 2560 and a pixel density of 565ppi, which is far more than 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and 424ppi pixel density of the Xperia Z3+. The Sony Xperia Z4v also has a Corning Gorilla oleophobic coating to protect its screen.

Verdict: There is no denying the fact that the Xperia Z4v is the clear winner here. With enhanced pixel resolution and pixel density, the display is undoubtedly sharper, brighter and clearer. Added to this, the oleophobic coating safeguards the smartphone from minor damages.

Camera

Think Sony, think camera! The snappers of both handsets are identical leaving no room for competition. Equipped with Exmor RS sensors, each smartphone encompasses a 20.7MP rear camera with LED flash and supports almost all common features. The camcorders can record both 4K and 1080p HD videos. The ability to record videos and shoot photographs simultaneously is an interesting attribute of both camcorders. Like the primary snapper, the secondary 5MP front cameras are also exactly the same with HDR support and 1080p HD video capturing capability.

Hardware, Memory and Software

Once again like the camera, there is no distinction as far as the hardware and memory attributes are concerned. This makes the two Xperia Z smartphones stand at par in this regard. Each handset has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, two quad core 1.5GHz and 2GHz processors, as well as an Adreno 430 graphics processor. They also house 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM internal storage. Additionally, the smartphones allow you to increase the real memory up to 128GB using memory cards.

There is a very slight difference in the software factor although this need not be considered as a disparity. The Z4v functions on Android 5.1 (the latest from Lollipop) while the Z3+ uses Android 5.0, an initial version of the same operating system.

The battery cannot be replaced by the user in both handsets. The Sony Xperia Z4v has a 3,000 mAh battery that is more powerful than the 2,930 mAh in-built battery in the Sony Xperia Z3+. The Xperia Z4v renders a talk time of 20 hours and 95 hours of music playback. In contrast, the Xperia Z3+ renders 17 hours of talk time and 91 hours of music playback. As for wireless charging, the Z4v supports Qi and PowerMat charging options. There is no such option in the Z3+.
