A fantastic match! Thanks for the upload. Steffi was making unusual forehand errors since the beginning of the 90's. It was also a less penetrating shot. But I think that in all the matches she won against Capriati, it was thanks to her backhand. Jennifer seemed to have trouble with that kind of sliced shot.

This one was an exhibition event. Steffi was recovering from surgery on her sinuses that she'd had just after Wimbledon, which forced her off the tour for over a month. No doubt she was looking for extra match play here and was feeling out her game.

So good to see people still remember the goat Steffi. Thanks for the uploads, good to see matches that was never broadcast in South Africa. Good memories of a great athlete!! Got her autograph, what a beauty Steffi is, no wonder men were following her and stabbing Seles. Also she mostly had tough wins which you think would have been easier for her, but makes living the memories more intense.

would have been beyond intriguing if evert had played one more year in 1990 and faced jennifer! talk about a whole bucket load of issues, stories and emotions in that match!.. i think evert would probably still have won against jennifer in 1990 even at 35 pushing 36 IF IF she evert was motivated and having one of her good days instead of her bad days physically and mentally that caused her to want to retire, simply because of her experienced and strategy.

Kev, you have a golden chest of matches of Steffi. Cant thank you enough. Steffi is adored in Pakistan.

This was not an official tournament. After 1989 the WTA no longer visited Mahwah, where Graf was the most succesful player with three titles. So with that said the result of this match does not count toward their official records and head-to-head. Graf has a 10-1 lead, by the way.
