I got the Sony FX30 for the autofocus. As someone who mostly films alone, or even if I use my camera for a project, I am the guy behind the camera. At least for setting it up. So, AF can be really helpful. Now that LUMIX cameras, like the S5ii, have excellent autofocus, I am drawn back to them. In large part because LUMIX cameras have much better skin tones. When I shoot in SLog3 on my FX30, that Log profile makes me look a little yellow. Which is strange, because when I choose a non-Log profile, like Cine4, my skin tones look great. Now, with the S5ii, I am looking to move back to LUMIX. Especially now that their stabilization is almost gimbal like in some modes. Plus, the S5ii is full frame, so I get more dynamic range and better colors. In the meantime, my FX30 is still an excellent camera. I might even keep it if and when I get an S5ii/x.
ОтветитьS5 auto focus falls apart in lowlight, in bright sunshine, no problems. I would say decide what you want to shoot first, then pick the camera and system that can do it. Maybe rent something to shoot with before you commit $ Buy used from a reputable source like KEH or MPB (in europe). Thanks.
ОтветитьI was researching for months and was jumping inbetween the options Daily 😂 While watching Hours of Reviews. Then an amazing deal became available on Amazon so I went with the s5ii and I couldn’t be happier. I love the usability compared to Sony and after the 3.0 update the AF is amazing - which was my only fear compared to Sony. Also the LUMIX feels like it can withstand weather better, which is very important for my use case in the nature.
